New update on my reclusive neighbours.....

Today they set their kitchen on fire.
First I knew of it was a knock on my door from other neighbours who had already rung 999. Smoke billowing out of their front door next to mine.
There have been three fire engines, two ambulances and two police cars here all afternoon.....the man next door has gone to hospital and the paramedics spent ages I think trying to persuade the woman not to stay in the house tonight...she sat on the fire engine step for about two hours... ....but eventually she went back in.

Firemen had to check my loft for smoke. My house is smoky.
I have been staying out of it..these people are too weird for me to deal with. Not happy with this situation though.
I just went out to get an update from a fireman, and apparently various people will now be involved in the next few days and I have been asked to ring environmental health tomorrow.
Could also ring councillor who helped before!

AIBU to dread having to go on living next door to them?

It might be on 'Homes under the Hammer' shortly.

Here's the back sitting room window, over the back hedge.
The window is smashed and jammed up with bits of insulation and plywood.

What this doesn't show is that all the front windows are broken.....

PS after living next door to a family like this you have my utmost sympathy. Chin up nothing is forever.

tigger Fri 24-Jul-15 23:45:14

Keep a log going no matter what occurs and photographs try to support your position

AlieOxon Fri 24-Jul-15 18:21:52

If we get any sun, I will try and post a picture of next door!

Nelliemoser Fri 24-Jul-15 17:10:47

Oh dear! It is quite easy to post on the wrong thread.

AlieOxon Fri 24-Jul-15 16:49:54

I think someone is on the wrong thread......

AshTree Fri 24-Jul-15 16:23:49

How very random confused. Have you opened the wrong door friends123?

Elegran Fri 24-Jul-15 16:03:49

?

Modern society? At least the hunter gatherers are thought to have been equal in everything they did.(Reading about pre-history can sometimes be illuminating)

AlieOxon Thu 23-Jul-15 19:52:36

Yes, they own it.
It's nice to know a bit more.

Going to be a lot of hassle having it all done next door though.....

annodomini Thu 23-Jul-15 18:48:41

There are definite pros and cons in that situation, Alie, though on balance it looks as if the outcome should be good. Good riddance, as long as it's final.

Ana Thu 23-Jul-15 18:32:53

But at least you won't have the worry of them setting the house on fire again, Alie!

I do hope things are sorted out soon and also that the authorities keep you informed - those neighbours have caused you more than enough worry.

annsixty Thu 23-Jul-15 17:26:55

What a very unsettling situation for you to be in. I can't recall if they own the house or not. If so I expect they will have the final word on what happens to it unless it is unsafe, but then obviously your own house will be affected.

AlieOxon Thu 23-Jul-15 16:52:27

Latest: two firemen dropped in in case I didn't know..house has been obviously empty. The man is still in hospital as they wouldn't release him to a derelict house...she is somewhere in a ground floor flat, so presumably he will join her.
Env. Health are apparently seeing to sorting out the house.

I was a bit wary of the house not being boarded up, but the firemen say it is almost impossible to get into. A bit like that castle in the fairytale, hemmed in by brambles.

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jul-15 20:17:51

Hope they sell the house...won't get much though.

All change here, as I have also met the new neighbours the other side (empty since my old neighbour died), and they seem ok.....!
I left a note in the house about the fence I am going to put up between these neighbours and myself....to keep the DOGS out from No. 10....this is going to be a birthday present from my sister! He is ok about that.

Luckygirl Sun 19-Jul-15 20:06:13

Oh let us hope that they go and stay away. I have everything crossed.

loopylou Sun 19-Jul-15 17:45:36

Fingers crossed AlieO that they have been rehoused or whatever, at least that'll be one less thing to worry about...... ((Hugs)) x

New update here on the neighbours!
This afternoon I have seen my woman neighbour going off in what looked like a small removal van. Did not see the man, although I have been told he came back from hospital a week ago.

It rather looks as if they might have left, at least temporarily.
What next? If the house gets boarded up then they are definitely not there!

MiniMouse Mon 11-May-15 11:56:45

AlieO Please make sure that you take care of YOU! I think that's the one thing that we all tend to forget in our anxiety to ensure that everyone else is all right!

AlieOxon Mon 11-May-15 10:40:22

I'm trying. Thank you all

POGS Mon 11-May-15 10:18:33

Alie

Allow me to send continued thoughts of understanding your sadness and the duties involved when this happens. Such an awful time for Jayne's partner and children, your loved ones .

I wish you and your family eventual peace but for now do try to take of yourself .

whenim64 Mon 11-May-15 09:34:56

I'm glad the Samaritans were able to lift you up a little, Alie. We're all here ready to provide that virtual arm round your shoulder and to listen. flowers
