I have noticed recently (although it has probably been happening for a while) certain posters who vehemently condemn a post or poster then their so called followers join in the tirade as well.

It seems to me like childhood bullying, sad really in my opinion.

I have noticed a few names missing who used to post quite frequently.

And they don't intend to get so angry - it escalates. I suppose the discussion could be shifted bodily into the no-holds-barred padded cell area, but by then the damage has ben done.

Lona Mon 04-May-15 13:21:32

There's already a forum like that AshTree. It's called "Mumsnet!" grin

Bogoff Mon 04-May-15 13:41:32

Sounds like we need a de-escalation thread where factions can change the subject and become sociable again. Not a clue how that could work. hmm

AshTree Mon 04-May-15 13:42:11

Lona grin. Were we all like that in our youth, but have now mellowed do you think? Or are people generally more rude outspoken these days? (If so, God help Gransnet in a couple of decades shock)

Bogoff Mon 04-May-15 13:47:47

I certainly become more intolerant of some things as I get older, need to work on that one.
"Couple of decades" ??? I shall be haunting you all by then.

Soutra Mon 04-May-15 13:56:31

I thought the introduction of the "smileys" "diversion" did just that(de-escalation) -but not a view apparently shared by some. tcrsad

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 04-May-15 13:57:56

I think Elegran's suggestion would be great fun a good idea. That Burns poem about seeing ourelves as others see us comes to mind. grin

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 04-May-15 13:58:56

I think it would all end in a fit of the giggles. grin

HQ wouyldn't stand for it.

Ana Mon 04-May-15 13:59:05

(Just remembered another one - football)

Ana Mon 04-May-15 13:59:49

I don't think it was ever very popular...tcrhmm

Elegran Mon 04-May-15 14:21:44

Maybe just a thread (or whole topic) called "Censored. Abandon hope all ye who enter here" where everyone can rant and swear without being criticised and get whatever they are angry about out of their systems? Anyone of a sensitive disposition would know to avoid it.

Elegran Mon 04-May-15 14:23:26

angryshockangryshockangryshockangryshock grin

Ana Mon 04-May-15 14:28:26

I'm sure certain sweary types would love it...hmm
(not you, jingl)

granjura Mon 04-May-15 14:28:43

Great idea Elegran- as long as they keep all nastiness and rudeness to THAT thread ;) (which I doubt they would).

Ana Mon 04-May-15 14:29:51

Just thought of something - a thread like that certainly would attract t****s and the like...

Elegran Mon 04-May-15 14:43:29

Hmmm! How to conceal it from the outside world? A password to a secret chamber, like the special interests section of some research libraries, where pornography sensitive texts and artistic pictures are kept?

Ana Mon 04-May-15 14:45:02

A subscription fee, perhaps? grin

petallus Mon 04-May-15 14:54:46

Certainly the finer details would need ironing out. I think it's The Onion or maybe Ship of Fools which has the Hell forum.

Elegran Mon 04-May-15 15:12:52

Subscription fee to be spent on cupcake and biscuit for those who are not entering the secret chamber?

Hello, guys.
I am a new member here, so i wish i can get alone well with all of you here..If anyone who wants to put forward a different point of view can tell me, I'm very glad...

Bellanonna Sun 17-May-15 15:17:40

Hello summer01. It looks as though this thread finished on 4th may. If you hit the 'last hour 'key you will see what has come in recently, or even last day. That will bring up current threads on different forums. Good luck.

Ariadne Sun 17-May-15 18:58:42

Nice one, Bellanonna

I notice that the OP often starts threads and then never contributes further....effective, isn't it?
