I have noticed recently (although it has probably been happening for a while) certain posters who vehemently condemn a post or poster then their so called followers join in the tirade as well.

It seems to me like childhood bullying, sad really in my opinion.

I have noticed a few names missing who used to post quite frequently.

Most contentious argument is around politics' always an emotive subject together with religion- which does not seem to be discussed. Both subjects are dangerous and engender hated argument. I you don't like the heat etc..

I'm with LL, going to lurk somewhere quieter.

merlotgran Tue 28-Apr-15 21:08:00

You're stirring, pompa

AshTree Tue 28-Apr-15 21:12:37

Me too, Pompa.....

Ana Tue 28-Apr-15 21:13:51

Religion has been discussed quite often, jo1book. There is a forum for it, there just hasn't been a new thread posted for a while.

jo1book Tue 28-Apr-15 21:26:19

Both very difficult subjects, especially for people who are non-combative in their approach to life. You will get heated discussion because feelings are involved. You need a tough skin to be political.

merlotgran Tue 28-Apr-15 21:33:02

Not just a tough skin, you need to be knowledgeable. I am interested in politics up to a point but some posters on here really know their onions so I'm more than happy to leave the serious debating to them and just watch from the sidelines.

At the end of the day, nobody is looking over your shoulder when you put your X in the box.

pompa I didn't mention "cliques" or even make implications about them, as far as I'm aware, happy to stand corrected if I did. (Please give examples and show your working out if applicable) Sorry, couldn't help myself, just thinking of maths lessons of old smile

There is the occasional member who (in my opinion) responds to other members posts in a rather rude and insulting way, but I tend to make a response and then leave the thread.

jo1book Tue 28-Apr-15 21:46:47

I often wonder if those on the forums who are most knowledgeable about politics are the parents of politicians.

merlotgran Tue 28-Apr-15 21:49:50

YIKES!!

Which one of you lot is Nigel's mum? grin

Ana Tue 28-Apr-15 21:51:03

I doubt it! grin

jo1book Tue 28-Apr-15 21:54:02

I reckon I have spotted Ms. Flint's mum and Ms. Sturgeons auntie. Oh. and Ed Balls granny.

pompa Tue 28-Apr-15 21:55:31

Pheonix, see your post Tue 28-Apr-15 19:00:47, or do you have a doppelgänger. OMG what a thought Pheonix x 2 grin
I shall go lurk again. In bed this time moon Good night all.

rosesarered Tue 28-Apr-15 21:56:42

Well, if Nigel's Mum is on here, she has kept very quiet.grin

pompa Tue 28-Apr-15 21:57:09

jo1Book grin, so who's GF do you think I am?

Ana Tue 28-Apr-15 22:00:48

Ed Balls' granny??? She'd have to be at least 80 - come on, own up! grin

jo1book Tue 28-Apr-15 22:06:34

How can I reply to that, pompa, without insulting you. Which politician would you claim as your child? Me? I wouldn't claim a bastard.

pompa Tue 28-Apr-15 22:13:58

My trouble is, I am so dis-interested in politics I could hardly name a handful of MP's.

Soutra Tue 28-Apr-15 22:21:41

Disinterested or just plain uninterested?

Mishap Tue 28-Apr-15 22:35:07

Some subjects do arouse strong feelings and I do join threads to which this applies. But I always duck out when it gets personal, as this seems quite unnecessary to me, and inhibits proper debate.

GrannyTwice Tue 28-Apr-15 22:50:48

Oh shock horror. A General Election in a few days time. A thread on politics. Strong feelings. People who agree with each other are a clique. Oh just grow up - this is an online forum not a support group for shrinking by violets.

GrannyTwice Tue 28-Apr-15 22:55:00

There are plenty of anodyne threads on here that I don't join in - I don't criticise them - a good forum has a range for everyone - I just get fed up of all the pathetic wingeing about those of us who want to discuss politics seriously and with passion

durhamjen Tue 28-Apr-15 22:57:51

I agree, GrannyTwice.

Ana Tue 28-Apr-15 22:58:38

Shrinking by violets...now there's a novel way of cutting somone down to size!

durhamjen Tue 28-Apr-15 23:05:45

Where's magpie gone? Strange not making a single comment on a thread she started.
