Oh he is well past subtle hints......I'd ask him (politely and calmly retaining the moral high ground) outright and let him now that you were upset.

Sorry to hear that SJP.Whatever the circumstances/reasons, a son should not forget his Mother's birthday. but at least his girlfriend remembered you.

That is hurtful SJP I think if it were me I would ask him about it to find out why- and tell him how hurt you are. I hope you did have a good Birthday despite this.

I would put a comment on his Facebook page reminding him it is his mother's birthday too. Shame him to his friends.
