So, does that mean they will attack food shops that sell over priced stuff, or other cafes?Many areas of London are now gentrified that we all remember as places we would rather not live, that's the way it goes.

They haven't the nous to start something like that themselves, so they attack those who do instead.

No-one was asking them to pay £2.50 for a bowl of porridge - they could stay home and make their own. If/when the price of a packet of flaked oats rises skyhigh, that will be the time for a demonstration.

I am willing to bet that they had their mobile phones with them, up-to-date all-singing, all-dancing ones on expensive all-inclusive tarriffs.

I heard an interview this morning with someone who was on the protest. Although he said he disagreed with the attack, he said all they did was set off a few smoke bombs, write the word scum on the window and scatter some breakfast cereal on the ground and saying the people in the shop were not "terrified" - I think I would be pretty scared with smoke bombs going off and a baying mob outside! He also seemed to be attempting to justify it by making personal comments about the people who run the cafe ("hipsters is so out of date" etc.) and saying only the middle class could afford those prices.

He did say their protest had been taken over by the "class war mob".

As others have said, I don't know what they hope to gain by attacking a small business which gives employment to local people and who have obviously found a niche in the market.

And by the way, I read an interview with one of the brothers who own the cafe this morning, and their bowls of porridge are sold for starting at £2.50 each.

This should be treated just as seriously as any other mob rioting.

grandmother lived in Westbourne Grove, now gentrified to Notting Hill - it was Peter RAchman's domain all round there - definitely not desirable/gentrified. Though many years later, Peter Mandelson bought a house next door to my granny's!

The two lads who started up the Cereal Cafe are working class from Belfast, clearly the stupidly named "Fuck Parade" have no idea whatsoever in what businesses, albeit small ones, have to pay in overheads and the risk they take in starting up such a venture. They also ignore the fact that they are employing people and as such are damn sight more use to society than a no mark rent a mob could ever be.

I hope the Cereal Cafe stay open and get more customers through the door in solidarity.

I'm actually surprised anyone took any notice, particularly in London where most things are overpriced. Were they rentacrowd sent by a rival restaurant/purveyors of bowls of cereal do you think?
