The young woman in Boots wearing a red jumper with: 'Merry Christmas, Ya Filthy Animal' in large letters was also wearing a small badge saying she was the Shop Manager ...

I'm wearing a plain scarlet vee neck jumper - if I had a patterned Christmas one I'd most likely wear it during December.

My DH had to buy a Christmas jumper for work in the Co-op. He only has to wear it on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day! They have to buy their own, they can't claim any expenses towards them either.

I've got a Christms jumper. It's light blue with snowmen on it. I got from Marks and Sparks with 30% off. I wore it to church today. For the Xmas gift service.

I've never had a Christmas jumper before.

I really wanted robins, but they were all sold in large my size.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 13-Dec-15 22:40:25

Forgot to mention - the snowmen are made of sequins!!!

It seems that this Christmas clothing thing is big business and is becoming more and more a requirement for an increasing number of events.

It has been suggested that we wear amusing Christmas jumpers for our choir social tomorrow but I'm not going to. As someone else said, what's the point of spending out money on an item of clothing that is unattractive and only wearable once a year? And I don't like bright red and green anyway.

My family and I were in Liverpool Street yesterday and the whole area around Spitalfields was absolutely choc a bloc with young people dressed in Santa outfits - there were about 400 or 500 of them. My son said it was a giant pub crawl which must have been organised on social media. I must admit it looked great fun. (and the Santa Claus outfit retailers must be laughing all the way to the bank.)

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 14-Dec-15 09:35:18

That would have been a Santa Convention Eloethan. (Yes. Pub crawl by any other name) I saw a Santa on a motorbike last weekend. Hat on top of his helmet. tchhmm

ja Never mind. I still got the "God bless you" he definitely reserves for the older ladies of the congregation. DD just got the second hand on top of her's treatment. tchhmm

I have a very sweet reindeer one bought very cheaply & on 3rd year but my friend has a jumper with 2 big Christmas puddings on it & the slogan 'Hands Off My Puds'' Sorry but it made me laugh!
It is T shirt material so much better for me as I get too hot in wool so I may invest in one- just for fun.

I don't do jumpers but do have Christmas cushion covers and tea towels. They get packed away with the rest of the Christmas decorations and don't take up a lot of space

I had never contemplated buying a 'Christmas' jumper until I saw this in Asda. Had to have it! The top right hand robin has a sparkly heart for a chest, although being Asda and cheap, it is becoming a bit bobbly..... Talking of bobbly I also got a hat to wear with it at our village carol fundraiser!
I did feel a right wally wearing them, but it raised a few laughs......tchwink
It's a bolshy robin and however hard I try, it remains upside down!)

Marmight Mon 14-Dec-15 10:49:31

Oh! it's the right way up on my laptop but upside down on the iPad tchconfused

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 14-Dec-15 10:58:01

That happens to me marmight and then it rights itself. Odd.

I knitted DBH a jumper this year with scandinavian style snowflakes around the yoke, maroon and cream, he has always been rude about them so I did it as a joke more than anything. I was astonished when he loved it, I thought he would only wear it for digging in the garden. I gave it to him last Thursday.

On Saturday he was booked to sing at a wedding, and was asked to forgo his usual dj and bow tie for a carolsinging outfit! He was pleased to have a good reason to wear his new jumper. I think it looks horrific, perhaps I just need to get used to it!

There's no denying that the xmas jumpers everywhere certainly brighten up the shops. I have seen some really beautiful ones lately.

rosequartz Mon 14-Dec-15 14:11:27

Feeling left out now, perhaps I should brave the shops and buy myself a jumper with a Christmas tree and baubles tchgrin

Last year my two very small DGC arrived wearing Christmas jumpers. I was most surprised that my DD had fallen into the bad taste Christmas Jumper trap but I decided I must be old fashioned and kept my mouth shut. This year the horrible acrylic jumpers are everywhere and I wonder how people can wear them as they must be so hot. On the other hand, it's like a disposable uniform so no worries about what to wear on the day, no need to cry if you get splashed with fat whilst basting the turkey or with butter and milk whilst mashing the potatoes. No need to worry if Visiting Grandchild's nappy leaks over you or Baby Grandchild sicks up her milk; no need to wear an apron to dish up the sherry trifle or make up the fire. It doesn't even matter if your chocolate orange melts in your hand or your real orange spurts juice when you try to peel it - because your CJ is disposable. Now, where's our nearest Christmas Jumper shop?

nipsmum Mon 14-Dec-15 16:16:54

I bought a Christmas jumper in asda. It's beautiful. A lovely dove grey with beautiful robins all over it. It will be put away with the decorations and used next year. I don't see a problem with that.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 14-Dec-15 16:47:26

Just noticed that mine has a little poly bags with half a dozen spare sequins in it attached to the inside seam. Do they really think I would actually sew sequins on if one or two come off?! Must be joking!

Stupid iPad.

hapgran Mon 14-Dec-15 17:38:51

I bought a sparkly red short sleeved top in a charity shop which I will wear for various Christmas events. Where I live it is SO mild at the moment I don't think I could cope with a thick jumper, apart from the fact I don't like Christmas jumpers. Some of the ones described above do sound quite acceptable, though...

fredabee Mon 14-Dec-15 17:47:26

Just to add - have just seen a Christmas cushion in the shape of a huge Christmas pudding! Whatever next!

Elrel Mon 14-Dec-15 17:54:24

Marmight and nipsmum - the grey with robins is lovely!
