It's driving me mad but .....

My husband used to do this until we found out that he had diabetes. Now he is wide awake in the evenings now that his sugar is under control. Worth checking out. I know you say he won't go to the doctor but I just make the appointment and then confront him with it.

My other half is never 'asleep' he is just resting his eyes.

My goodness Granarchist. I recognise everything you write in your post. I thought I was the only one. It's good to know it's not just my OH. The annoying thing is is that he can still go straight to sleep when he goes to bed. zzzzzzzzz

My DH maintains he 'doesn't sleep during the day.' I caught him out recenty though by snapping pics on my phone of him nodded off on the sofa with the clock on the sideboard is visible in the background!

Like other DH's, he frequently nods off when he sits down, especially in the evening and then stops up til after midnight watching blood curdling films on TV.

Grr......

Mr C is also a sleeper, speciality is reading a book with eyes closed, waking himself by snoring then denying he was asleep. . Mostly it makes me smile.

Always going to sleep! It caused most of the row between us!!

DH is resting his eyes at this very minute! We're supposed to be going our in half an hour.

What a great thread, some of the posts have made me laughand I've shared them with Mr. S. whose just reminded me that lions spend most of their time sleeping. Yeah right Mr. S. but as lovely as you are, you're no lion.

I am so thrilled I am not the only one. He wont go to a doctor - I also thought about sleep apnea - so it appears I am stuck with it!!!!! But lovely to know others share the situation!!! Ah well.

My husband often falls asleep after lunch as well as in the evening then he stays up till 2.00am. It seems to be a 'man' thing. I find it very frustrating but have come to accept that there is nothing I can do about it. I have started making more of an effort to go out in the evenings especially to the theatre ( which he won't do) as it doesn't really make a difference to him whether I am there or not

This sounds like my Ex husband some 20 years ago, when he would have only been in his 30's! A friend of mine married three times and to progressively younger men. I said that they would have more "life" in them if younger. "No" she said "same snoring on settee, different head" .

This thread makes me not want to go there again!

We have a friend who used to be notorious for falling asleep in the evenings. It turned out to be underactive thyroid. He's been much better since he's been on medication.

I won't buy theatre or concert tickets for My OH anymore as I know he'll have nodded off as soon as the curtain goes up.

I ve been known to sleep by the T V get up go to bed and fall straight back to sleep again I ve also not realised I ve been asleep until I wonder where the programme I m watching has gone

It's more lonely if you're on your own at least you can hear another human being even if it's only snoring LOL

It is 18.00 and my OH is fast asleep on the sofa, wearing headphones to listen to his football phone in on the radio. He won't have it that he dozes off whenever he sits down. I might collect video evidence. ?

My DH is just the same,but not just because older and retired, has always been like this!Oh the exciting films he has nodded off watching. Got used to it over the years though, and I don't mind.

I always manage to wake up in time for The Archers though.

DH could sleep on a clothes line. Any place, any time, any where.

Worse than that , if we sit down for a sandwich lunch I can guarantee not only will Grampy be sound asleep, maybe with sandwich in hand BUT Sam the dog will be asleep , underneath the sandwich position so if it drops its his. AND he will be snoring like a Harley Davidson.

For a little dog he can snore for England.

I could claim the gold medal for falling asleep in front of the TV, Escape to the Country, Gardeners World, you name it, I have slept through it!!

Mines the same, round about 9.00 he's bound to drop off. Doesn't matter what's on, I'll turn to say something and he's asleep. Sometimes he manages to stay awake till the last five (tense) minutes of a programme and drops off and misses the end! He is retired, but does work hard with lots of diy. He tends to wake at about 6am though.

I must admit he recognises this and always tells me to put on whatever programme I like.

I've been thinking of starting this sort of thread myself.

My thoughts exactly Charleygirl. If he has sleep apnea he won't be have in an unbroken sleep at night and he's bound to feel tired throughout the day/evening. Worth getting it checked out.

Could he be suffering from sleep apnoea? Maybe as already said he is just tired after a hard day's work. Another TV in another room maybe the answer.

Mine's retired so whats his excuse? I'm not really complaining though as I love to go and read for a while before settling down so I leave him downstairs usually snoring in front of a program he's been waiting to watch {grin} although he doesn't nod off at other times.. it must be annoying if it happens all the time though, I can't think of a solution sorry..

Blimey I think my husband must be a bigamist and your the other wife! I don't know the answer. I don't think he's ill but he does work a very long day on a sort of rolling shift. Your right it is a bit lonely. On his days off he's OK in the day but come evening I'll often find him nodding off.
