Does everything I see here lately have to be for the Over 60/50s not all grandparents are over that age and even when we are do we always want to wear whats best for the over 60/50s?
I was a grandma at 38 but I'm 67 now and I'm sure we have much younger than me grandmas here but even so I don't look for age appropriate clothes I just look for what I like and what suits me and blow what age its intended for.
How is a raincoat age appropriate for instance?

I think I got out the wrong side of bed this morning grin had a bad night and the first thing I see is Over 60's raincoats smile

Hi tanith, you're right, our members do range from late 30s to late 80s so we do competely understand - though the average is 60s.

Thanks for the feedback - we will bear this in mind for future content pages.

It should be all for those in their seventies. Sod the rest.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 07-Sep-16 11:13:58

You got out of bed the wrong side?

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 07-Sep-16 11:19:16

What's wrong with a nice placcie mac anyway? hmm

And while we're on the subject of the front page, we've all seen quite enough of that over-iced sickly looking rose cake. hmm

Riverwalk Wed 07-Sep-16 11:35:25

Quite agree Tanith

We may be a bunch of old grannies of a certain age but .... can you see any stylist offering Macs for the Over 60s to the likes of Helen Mirren, Joanna Lumley, Susan Sarandon, and they're over 70!

Madonna is nearly 60, maybe she'd like one grin

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 07-Sep-16 11:37:37

Oh come on! In all seriousness, it's a good article.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 07-Sep-16 11:38:26

I like the Seasalt one. But the horizontal stripes might make me look like a barrel.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 07-Sep-16 11:38:42

A short fat barrel.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 07-Sep-16 11:39:06

But get rid of that cake!

tanith Wed 07-Sep-16 12:27:04

Its an ok article but why label them as 'Stylish Raincoats for over 60's'? So anyone under 60 beware they aren't stylish enough for you.

If you answer this jings we'll all know you aren't GETTING ON WITH THE IRONING wink

wot Wed 07-Sep-16 14:13:26

Horrendously expensive, I thought.

wot Wed 07-Sep-16 14:14:45

I must get back to my ironing!

rosesarered Wed 07-Sep-16 14:18:59

Wow Tanith what a young gran you were.

tanith Wed 07-Sep-16 14:53:53

roses I was 19 and my daughter 18 but at least it seems my granddaughters have more sense than their Mother and Grandmother grin

M0nica Wed 07-Sep-16 18:18:55

Tanith Absolutely agree with you. Nearly every time someone runs a thread about age appropriate clothes or something suitable for someone over 60 or pontificates what 'we' older women want I usually post a winge on the thread.

Related to that is to lump all women of a certain age together as if we we are all identikit 50, 60 or 70 year olds. All of us know from our friends that some people age better than others (I will not say look young for their age, I think that is insulting).

I have a cousin with very little grey hair, slim and dressing like her daughter and looking great, then I have a good friend, much the same age; white haired by the time she was 60 and with the supersoft skin and fine wrinkles you mainly see on women in their 80s and dressed in clothes best described as 'age appropriate'. Looks, taste in clothes, all are completely different.

I think once anyone (M or F) passes 40 there is so much diversity in every aspect of the population that age is irrelevant as a definer of anything.

BBbevan Wed 07-Sep-16 19:09:11

Just seen that makeover thread. They are looking for women 40 -60 ? I am 72, and never seem to fit into any of these categories hmm

phoenix Wed 07-Sep-16 20:15:33

Agree Tanith especially about the raincoats thing! I remember some daft woman on the radio some time ago, saying that there should be a Radio Station for those over 60!

Ok, so you go to bed one night listening to (whatever takes your fancy) and the next day, wham! It's your 60th birthday and your musical taste has entirely changed! confused

Utter codswallop, and that's the polite version!

Now, just insert your own version of that post for raincoats.......

M0nica Sat 10-Sep-16 06:41:15

How young and green the programmers must be, and how scared of older people to start the age group they are looking for at 40, before anyone starts to age to any extent these days and assume that by 60 we are all past it. Perhaps they should get out a bit more and widen their horizons.

BlueBelle Sat 10-Sep-16 07:55:52

I ve no idea what you re all on about I haven't got any raincoats on my page

Badenkate Sat 10-Sep-16 08:06:53

I never see the home page, I come straight onto the forum part of the site.

Riverwalk Sat 10-Sep-16 09:00:10

Tanith your little grumble worked - they've removed the Over 60s bit!

grannylyn65 Sat 24-Sep-16 16:22:56

embo32 Tue 27-Sep-16 15:29:35
