I was amazed to see in our local paper that it has even come over to a backwater of rural France - 20% off a new Peugeot 308. Printed in English too.

And another update. The lovely supplier has been in touch to say she's popped a silk cushion cover worth £40 in the post for me, to apologise for the mistake. So it looks as though I have got a Black Friday bargain after all! smile

Well, I thought I wasn't, then as I was looking on Notonthehighstreet for a scarf for DD1's Christmas present I spotted a hand-painted one on silk. It was in their Black Friday sale - £18, reduced from £180! So it's come in very handy today.

UPDATE Before I pressed send, I answered the phone to the supplier of the beautiful scarf, ringing to let me know with many apologies that the website price should have read £18 off, not £18 in all. I should have known it was too good to be true! grin

I can't understand all the fuss over Black friday in the UK. Until 2 or 3 years ago we hadn't heard of it, now its everywhere. For instance, do we really need Morrisons to do a Black Five Day event? I counted my today's emails just now and 30 of them were headed Black Friday something or other with several more trumpeting a one day reduction.
It seems to me just another American method for retailers to screw more money out of the public by encouraging them to buy things they don't need, but hey we all love a bargain. If you can afford to knock 10-25% off, then just reduce the price.
Maybe I'm being old fashioned. I appreciate that some people welcome the reductions but would you have bought the item at full price? If not, do you really need it?
Rant over.
