Hysteria, hysteria,
Brexit was the result of the people's vote.
No PM can change the law, but a certain leader stifle debate
I would like to meet here someone from eastern Europe
"Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg says he is "completely opposed" to abortion, including in cases of rape or incest."
Hysteria, hysteria,
Brexit was the result of the people's vote.
No PM can change the law, but a certain leader stifle debate
Agreed Anniebach
And
Chewbacca yes, must have missed that announcement.
Rees-Mogg also supports the sanctity of marriage , bet the first and second Mrs Corbyn had hoped for the same
OMG it's getting to be such a pain. Talk about anything and Anniebach has to post her prejudices about Corbyn and the Labour Party.
As for the post about the sanctity of marriage there are over 100,000 divorces each year, so it means b____r all to a lot of us.
We might also consider the women in Northern Ireland who still suffer the policies of the DUP, with people like Rees Mogg in the Conservative party they stand little chance of achieving equal rights

" Tim Farron was pretty much hounded out of office because of his Christian beliefs and yet JRM is applauded for 'being honest and upholding his personal beliefs'. Seems to be one rule for one and a different one for the other."
Not one rule for and not another, they have ' both ' been 'hounded' for having the b----y cheek to have an opinion .
They have 'both' been 'hounded' for having the b----y cheek to believe in their Christian faith.
They have 'both' been ' hounded ' for having the b----y cheek not to believe in what those who 'hound' them do.
Who are you, I to 'tell' another person what they should believe?
If I told a Vegan you should eat meat or a Pacifist you are wrong then quite rightly I would be called arrogant, judgemental and intolerant of another persons right to hold their view/belief.
Rees-Mogg like Tim Farron have been 'hounded' for being Christian and it stinks.
You only have to look at the other Rees-Mogg thread to know that there is a concerted effort by some to throw any dirt , whether it be true or not, at the reputation of Rees-Mogg.
As for ' one rule for one and not the other ' that would only apply if you were such a hypocrit you do not/ did not equally back Tim Farron at the time he was being castigated for his beliefs but do so for Rees-Mogg. Or of course you only object to Rees-Mogg but are uninterested in anybody else.
Goodness, that is a high-horse you are on POGS. No one that I have seen has 'told' JRM what to believe (it would be a little pointless anyway) or 'told' anyone else. We may disagree with what he believes and we may think he would be a disaster for the country if he had any power but no one has told him what to believe.

Everyone should worry about this.
The repeal bill, if passed, gives any minister the power to change any bill.
Sancitity of marriage means b****r all to you Trisher but I honour it and have every right to say so.
No, not predjudice against the vlabour party, you really should realise by now the Labour Party and Corbyn-Momentum are two seperate political movements. But you know this don't you really ? It's your dream coming true
Unusually for me (I've upset people in the past!) I have read every post in this thread. I'd like to thank anniebach for every one of her measured posts and for stating her understanding of what JRM actually said in the interview rather than the extraordinary extrapolations of other posters. There has been a lot of common sense posted by may people and a lot of hysterical nonsense too. He answered the (unexpected) question put to him honestly. In a world of prevaricating and downright dishonest politicians how is this not admirable?! So well done anniebach and others!

Rees-Mogg's voting record.
He's on the same side as trump regarding climate change.
I wonder if he'll change his mind after three Caribbean hurricanes having all but destroyed the island he uses to have his financial interests on.
He also belongs to a group that wants to repatriate black and Asian britons. Not sure where to.
Sorry, but I think his voting record is good enough reason to dislike the man.
Been out.
Trisher, why would a pregnant woman go to her MP for help and advice? Seriously.
Dj, christians and other religious people have never been totally opposed to war (well, some have, but not as a rule). Protecting the unborn is different, apparently. I actually get the difference in a way. I think.
I respect his honesty about it. At least he has the courage to admit his beliefs in an age where you are not allowed to have strong feelings that don't fit in with the thinking of the day. I don't share the same beliefs as him but I admire somebody who won't lie about such fundamental things just to get into power. Let his constituents decide whether he should be re-elected or not.
I don't think anyone has a problem with your disliking the man, dj. Thank you for telling us. Again.
I can dislike the man's politics and still like the man. Not that I do like him, but I don't dislike him either. #whatnotwho
Yes, ican, honesty is good.
So you don't care about his voting record, that he has made life far worse for people who have very little?
That doesn't matter to you?
By the way, if the repeal bill gets passed, and Mogg becomes a minister, he will be able to change any law he wants, even if parliament has said he can't change it.
Read Starmer's examination of the bill.
Thank you Carol, it's quite simple isn't it, he was asked a question regarding his beliefs and he answered honestly , I respect honesty regardless of the political party, and yes hysteria is swamping the thread.
He is to be the next PM, will change laws without anything going through the two houses ,one man, one vote and laws are changed , so dramatic and just so silly
I haven't read his voting record, have no intention of voting for his party,
Did he support the IRA? Did he cosy up to Hamas? did he make a speech stating Venezuela was such a perfect socialist country? Did he stab Tory grass roots members in the back by working against them,? Corbyn did all this
Yes, it does matter, dj. IT matters. HE doesn't. Except insofar as his constituents seem to think he's the right person to represent them in parliament. I might have stronger feelings about HIM if I were in his constituency.
I don't think you get the separation of ideas from the people espousing them, do you? Apparently JRM is "liked" on a personal level by a very wide range of his fellow parliamentarians so it's not just me who does get that separation.
Well said, annie.
In the case of rape there is the morning after pill, which can be taken as a precaution. Incest would be different as the victim may be too young or too frightened to tell anyone. But I do object to abortion when someone has been careless and taken unnecessary risks. In this day and age, when young people can obtain free condoms from chemists and contraception is widely available, we should not be killing babies for the sake of convenience.
Thank you Baggs, I like Rees-Mogg, I like his humour and his honesty.
I saw a clip on utube sent to me today, question time, Rees-Mogg was saying he use to live near slough, Dimbleby got cocky and said - when you were at Eton? With speed Rees-Mogg said - yes I was there the same time as your son ?
I liked that
Tut tut Annibach, too much faith in Sun/Mail/BBC propaganda
Yes, annie, and JRM's calm competence in talking politely even while stomping on underhand rudeness and slyness like that example you give makes a refreshing change from the endless and tiresome onslaughts of moralisers and shamers who seem to take some warped delight in trying to make other people feel guilty.
Good for him( JRM) I can't stand Dimbleby, too smug by half.
