To think that loud, very loud, music.....

Summer seems to bring out the worst of loud music
My young neighbours play their music so loud that its impossible almost to hear anything else
I had to ask them twice this summer to turn it down
They have a baby so how it doesnt disturb it i dont know
Also one of the houses over the back regularly have parties and i can hear their music at 1am or longer even with ny windows closed when i am in bed

I don't mind very loud parties very occasionally but if it is a regular thing I would certainly complain.

My neighbours stay up very late at night with the TVs in their bedroom on full belt. I did mention it to them but it carried on, so at 7.00 am I put my radio on , a little bit I must admit, after a few days the penny must have dropped and the TVs is no longer on loud and I let them have their lie in! Difficult when it's outside but if it's only one night then That's ok to me.

harrigran we have a brilliant service from our Police Community Support Officers (PCSO's) who are the local 'feet on the ground' and are very responsive in a low-key way to reported troubles. Their numbers have been cut dramatically in recent years, but at the moment we are fortunate to still have them. They can 'have a word' with people before problems get out of hand and are very much like the old time coppers.

We had a letter from the police yesterday which said that there had been reports of anti-social behaviour in our street and that if we woud care to fill in the form it would be investigated and dealt with and we would remain anonymous.
Officers can stand up in court on our behalf and at no time will our details be revealed, this is known as hearsay evidence.
This is a great idea as we have several problem residents who ould be potentially dangerous if they knew who was reoporting them.

YANBU ga, playing loud music late at night is being a bad neighbour and listening to someone elses taste in music is a form of torture

Of course you’re not being unreasonable. I was going to say that people are so much more self-centred now, but I’ve just recalled the police knocking on the door of my student house to shut us up at some ungodly hour when we were all celebrating my birthday. The poor couple next door had a young family and he was an ambulance driver. Wine’s in, wits out, as they say. I do hope this was a one off and you get a good night’s sleep tonight, ga.

We regularly get people being dropped off outside our house at about 3am, then they stand talking to the driver, whilst deafening music (?) blares out. Both my daughter and myself sleep at the front of the house, so we get it full on. So no, Ga, you are not being unreasonable.

I object to people playing their music at high volume as they drive around with their car windows open. Why should I be forced to listen to their choice rather than mine.

I hardly slept last night and am so tired today that I haven't even bothered getting dressed! (I have viral fatigue so I'm feeling justified.)

I'm guilty...I play my music very loud whenever I want to ,I like it best when it fills the room.I do live in a detached house and we have checked it cant be heard outside if its very late but I'm often found playing music at 2 or 3 am .If I want to play it loudly in the car surely me passing at 30 miles an hour isn't causing a disturbance? Intolerant of others could be aimed at you too not just the music lovers on the green

I am very very sensitive to noise pollution - it drives me wild. The idea that someone else should be forced to listen to loud music (of any kind) is extraordinarily rude. This applies to folk driving along with music blaring out of their open windows, workmen and their trannies (is it not possible to lay a brick without that noise?!) etc. etc.

I hate it with a vengeance. Grandma 2213 yes, people have a right to enjoyment but not with loud music that encroaches on neighbours’ sleep after 12. It’s called being thoroughly selfish imo.

There are a lot of young and youngish people who are going to be prematurely deaf from playing their music too loudly and straight into their ears with earphones. Then they are going to start complaining that old people mumble these days and you can't make out what they are saying

When we had the odd 'late party' neighbours would be invited and music turned right down at 11.

At the risk of being a grumpy old woman I think less and less thought is given to others in matters like this. And whilst it is a divergence... it made me think of bonfires vs washing on the line too!

Bang Bang or Boom Boom is extremely annoying, I agree, but if it is only for one night it is bearable. People, even these days, are entitled to a bit of fun!

I think back to times when we were extremely noisy in our youth (cringe, thoughtless yes but no malice intended)! If it goes on night after night, fair enough, report it! Otherwise the odd night can be survived!

It doesn't happen near me but if it did I would be tempted to go out and join in!! The music usually sounds better when you are nearer and not just hearing the thump of the beat from afar!!

I hate with a passion, music played too loud, way after midnight, whether at a party or just for enjoyment. The “boom, boom, boom”music of the 70’s and 80’s, etc used to make my life a misery in London, the sound ricocheting off the backs of the terrace of houses where we lived fed, or booming forth from a stationary car with windows and often roof down (or maybe waiting at the kerb) disturbing peoples peace.
It’s not only just now, recently or this century though, I think it has been like that for a longer time.
