Cannot believe what I have just heard on Loose Woman , the subject 'Is Are You Addicted to Kitchen Porn? Is it just me being too serious ?or do others think this is infantile & inappropriate considering how many woman (& some men) have had their lives ruined by the Porn industry?

hildajenniJ Tue 07-Nov-17 13:19:43

Am I just a little innocent? What is Kitchen Porn?

Bridgeit Tue 07-Nov-17 13:29:27

Apparently it's about making certain dishes or describing dishes in an apparently sexy way,i.e. Succulent etc with a nudge , wink & titter ?

merlotgran Tue 07-Nov-17 13:30:04

Ooh yes. Please tell us. I'd hate to be missing out grin

merlotgran Tue 07-Nov-17 13:30:37

Oh Nigella then.......Is that all? hmm

Iam64 Tue 07-Nov-17 13:34:11

Is this just Nigella? If so, let her get on with it and make her (excellent) living.
If it's anything more seedy, nope, I'm not interested in porn, other than that if I ruled the world I'd try and prevent under 18's accessing it.

Bridgeit Tue 07-Nov-17 13:41:51

No not about Nigella, they were showing a rack of lamb very well glazed with little chefs hats on & now the new trend apparently is to refer to beautifuly presented dishes as Kitchen Porn , presumably because of the diserable appeal of the dish !?

Nanabilly Tue 07-Nov-17 13:41:57

I don't like it either but we have to move with the times or so they say. Fed up of hearing things like car porn when you are going to look at cars or handbag porn when bag shopping and so on..
Childish ??? Very .

Bridgeit Tue 07-Nov-17 13:46:11

Thanks Nanabilly, I'm not a prude, but I am serious about some subjects being sexualised. It seems pathetic & insulting to me, when we know how lives are destroyed by real Porn

merlotgran Tue 07-Nov-17 13:46:41

But you were watching Loose Women.....The clue is in the programme title. What did you expect?

They're not really Loose Women BTW....Just 'avin' a larff.

Bridgeit Tue 07-Nov-17 13:56:10

Yes I suppose, I don't see it often , but happened to be Channel hopping & occasionally something interesting crops up on there. I m not really a fan of popular light entertainments programmes , but it's good to see, & hear what pass for it these days, just caught the tail end of this today , my reaction was what ? really? Perhaps I need to get a life ?

MissAdventure Tue 07-Nov-17 14:06:48

I'm sure loose women has got more pathetic as its gone along. They used to at least talk about some less ridiculous topics.

lemongrove Tue 07-Nov-17 14:46:51

I agree Bridgeit calling anything ( other than porn) ‘porn’
Is ridiculous and in bad taste.

Chewbacca Tue 07-Nov-17 15:11:14

Must be a quiet day on the news front if this is all they have to discuss. What a waste of air time.

Bridgeit Tue 07-Nov-17 16:35:24

I think it's the inane laughter that goes with it that gets to me,it's like they are saying 'ohh aren't we being daring & funny' uhh no just making yourselves look silly.Nevermind each to their own

merlotgran Tue 07-Nov-17 17:02:13

I have never watched Loose Women and agree about inane laughter but suggestive gluttony has been hinted at where food is concerned for centuries. Remember the scene in the film Tom Jones that had everyone talking?

Nowadays the word porn is added to all kinds of leisure activities, even gardening to 'sex it up a bit'. I can honestly say it has never so much has made me raise an eyebrow.

CherryHatrick Tue 07-Nov-17 17:37:17

Was Clarissa Wright Dickson of The Two Fat Ladies talking Kitchen Porn when she referred to Jennifer's stick blender as her Kitchen Vibrator?

Many years ago, all of us in the office used to club together to place an order from the Lakeland catalogue, it saved on delivery charges and sometimes meant we got a free gift

We used to refer to the catalogue as "kitchen porn" blush

Jalima1108 Tue 07-Nov-17 18:37:20

Daytime tv is dangerous.
Apart from Escape to the Country which is just irritating (apart from the scenery).

Don't watch!

merlotgran Tue 07-Nov-17 19:26:07

Daytime tv is dangerous

Eh?

Jalima1108 Tue 07-Nov-17 19:26:42

Porn at lunch-time
in the kitchen

M0nica Tue 07-Nov-17 20:07:48

I have always thought that kitchen porn meant merely poring over cookery books that are more about feasting on the pictures than actually making any of the dishes.

It is a phrase that has been around for years. At home we tend to use phrases like this casually about anything where someone is slightly obsessed by books and pictures of all kinds of quite innocent subjects.

DD loves teddy bears and has lots of pictures of teddy bears on the wall around her desk, which we refer to as DD's bear porn.

shysal Tue 07-Nov-17 20:59:18

I saw the programme. They were saying how they loved Nigella's kitchen equipment like her see-through toaster. Some of the panel members have appeared on Celebrity Masterchef and therefore jokingly referred to the Lakeland catalogue as porn. Just a bit of harmless fun, nothing more! I only turned the TV on as it was pouring with rain, but there are many regular viewers. A bit of snobbery is showing here.

By the way, the Screwfix catalogue is my favourite publication (no pun intented!).

Anything with "porn" on the end, apart from porn itself just means something you really love. So for instance, car porn just means looking at loads of cars, most of which you can't afford but would love to own. Kitchen porn is looking through kitchen magazines/brochures or products selling things that go in your kitchen and lusting over them. You've just bought a Tesco value toaster, but you see a glass toaster on TV and you really want it and get a bit obsessed by it - that's kitchen porn.
