Could anyone help here - some long serving and very interesting members seem to have just vanished. How did that happen. DJ, GGMK2 and WW. Where? and Why?

It’s in the title of the thread Elothan. no one is being catty

maryeliza54 Tue 17-Apr-18 23:54:18

No one is being catty? <faints>

Bridgeit Wed 18-Apr-18 00:02:22

Well I have obviously misbehaved badly enough to be reprimanded by GNHQ & have a post remove.

MawBroon Wed 18-Apr-18 00:12:25

Oh join the club of deleted posts Bridgeit you’ve not arrived until you’ve been deleted grin

Just carry on then. You criticise others but, quite honestly, you're not such a great advert for the site.

maryeliza54 Wed 18-Apr-18 07:31:04

What amazes me is the sheer irony

Elegran Wed 18-Apr-18 08:40:53

"Knowledgeable and prolific," is a good description of the posters in question (and their high values and their dedication to the good of the under-privileged are unquestioned and admirable) Any poster looking for an education in socialism (not, they insisted, communism) would get full instruction. However, the teachers were hard taskmasters and inclined to give lines and demerit marks to those unwilling to learn or slow to hand in acceptable answers to homework questions. Being frivolous in class or demonstrating an ignorance of the correct debating method lost marks too. As for being cheeky to teacher - for that you'd have to report to the headmaster for a caning.

mcem Wed 18-Apr-18 08:41:32

I'm very well aware of past accusations of cliques, gangs and bullies! Ring any bells?
What a sad attempt to become 'prominent'!
"Look at me everyone! I've been told off!"

maryeliza54 Wed 18-Apr-18 08:43:18

Well being knowledgable is certainly not a description that can be applied to many of their prolific critics on this thread.

maryeliza54 Wed 18-Apr-18 08:47:35

But come on mcem you are bring completely unreasonable - none of the critics of those who have left ever ever ever do anything wrong. If they are ‘told off’ it’s not fair. All evil and wrongdoing is invested in the three who have gone and as we see GN is SO improved by their leaving - a kinder, gentler, more reflective, fair, measured place where erudite informed discussion takes place.

mcem Wed 18-Apr-18 08:57:53

Oh! ME54 Please don't pick on me! You are a mean bully! I may have to report you to GNHQ!!!

(Aaaah ........ but if I report you and you have your wrist slapped you'll get stroppy and become more prominent!)

MawBroon Wed 18-Apr-18 09:27:08

The “other” thread seems to have sunk without trace.
I suppose it was too much to hope for the same fate for this one.hmm

maryeliza54 Wed 18-Apr-18 09:52:49

The other thread was basically amalgamated with this one in terms of spiteful, mean, unfair, inaccurate and sanctimonious criticisms and personal attacks on the posters concerned

lemongrove Wed 18-Apr-18 09:57:14

I agree Maw this thread needs a torpedo now.

Anniebach Wed 18-Apr-18 09:58:06

Thinking on Elegrans post , I was told by one of the lecturers, not one of the missing four - get off this thread = leave this room ?

MawBroon Wed 18-Apr-18 10:06:41

smile Anniebach
Fortunately you took no notice! grin

maryeliza54 Wed 18-Apr-18 10:09:37

And of course ab you neve4 never post anything unpleasant or rude to anyone - what perfection.

maryeliza54 Wed 18-Apr-18 10:11:01

Well if you lot stopped stirring, I would stop refuting but you keep it going so I post in the spirit of fair play.

Anniebach Wed 18-Apr-18 10:13:33

Nothing personal to other posters Maryeliza, just for Corbyn devotees a critcism of that hypocrite was taken on board as a personal comment against themselves

Anniebach Wed 18-Apr-18 10:17:43

Maw, several years ago I had a PM, someone long time left, who said that I as a supporter of Blair and Brown was the reason she had to leave the country . Never knew my one vote had so much power ?

eazybee Wed 18-Apr-18 10:26:39

Not the slightest bit interested in the departed members, but thought I would use the opportunity to say something nice to Anniebach: last night I overheard some veteran table tennis players of my acquaintance discussing 'the amazing performance of that little welsh girl' who I believe is your great niece. Fantastic.

Goodbyetoallthat Wed 18-Apr-18 16:26:31

I am relatively new to gransnet & have to admit that I am completely mystified that a thread about 3 posters choosing to leave the forum has run to 16 pages, what am I missing?

JenniferEccles Wed 18-Apr-18 16:47:58

I am also mystified Goodbyetoallthat. That and also the sheer nastiness from some posters to others.

Have we happened upon a forum for schoolchildren?!

Anniebach Wed 18-Apr-18 16:52:41

eazybee, not my great niece, my favourite nephew has been her coach since she was five , thank you, all of us involved in his tennis centre are proud of her . ?

rafichagran Sun 22-Apr-18 22:06:26

Yes we have become school children. I made the terrible mistake of posting on the Grandnet Cafe thread. The one where everyone says Good morning.
A couple were very kind but I was told it was etiquette to let Michael post first. I was asked if I was new to Gransnet, which I am not, just not in the clique or not considered a prolific poster. I was also told I forgot to add Sunday very petty.

Another poster said she firstly ignored my thread and that I had jumped the gun.
Well Gransnetters I will tell you this, I had a horrendous night, and as I was up I thought I would say Good Morning, I finally got a couple of hours sleep and when I got up read the replies. Other than a couple of posters, who were kind, I felt the passive agressive sarcasm was not called for. Don't worry I have appologised, learnt my lesson and won't post there again.
Also I don't know where it says Michael should post 1st, but you know what, he is welcome.
I am sorry to say that some of you are coming across as set in your ways and nasty.
