I think there’s an extra amount of interest from the press because she’s American, and in many ways an unlikely royal bride.

I seem to remember that Prince Harry's grandfather, Earl Spencer was not 100% fit when he walked his daughter down the aisle, but he did it. I hope Meghan's Dad can do it too.

I don't believe anything the Daily Mail says, unless I see proof from elsewhere, so I'd take with a pinch of salt the statement that her father now wants to come after all. It's hard to know what the real truth is. We probably never will know.

I have felt uncertain whether she will stay the course with Harry, but it's his choice. I do feel sorry for them both though. The week before the wedding should be a happy time, looking forward to the big day. It must be horrible to have all these last minute uncertainties, quite embarrassing for her, and all so public too.

Thanks for your post sea cliff, it's reassuring to see an ordinary even compassionate comment about the vents swirling around this couple who are preparing for their wedding. Weddings are stressful for families, brides and grooms but imagine, the world's press are watching, recording everything. Your worst nightmare cousins have flows in, expecting to be feted by tv/media and paid for any nonsense they chose to speak.
I understand and respect the beliefs that lead posters to republican points of view. I do not understand how anyone can be so angry, dismissive and cruel about a young couple preparing for their wedding.

They are not poor innocent wee things! They've both been around and are well accustomed to being in the public eye. In Harry's case he was born to it. In her case she's chased it. It's her job as an actress.

Yes, they both know how to handle the press and to use it to their advantage , I hope they will have a happy marriage but cannot warm to them , the staged photo shoots in the garden did it for me , no one announcing their engagement stands in the position Megan did.

I'm sad to think that this man has been hounded by the press, who have made a mockery of him. The Royals are surely aware of how damaging the press can be - but this man has been left adrift to cope on his own. I thought Meghan was supposed to be close to him, but all she seems to have done is to issue a request that the press give them privacy. Heaven help the lot of them .

I cannot believe this man was "taken in" by the photographer, he is no stranger to the media, he has been in the entertainment industry for over 40 years. Miss pushy only got her start thanks to him. Like father like daughter only seen the $ signs, I am worried for Harry!

Not fair to blame the Windsors, why should they always be blamed for the actions of others. The people to blame if blame must be laid then the two thirty somethings , I think they are self centred and possibly lapping up all this ‘aww bless them ‘ Megan is not naive, she is world wise and he needs to grow up , the father is her father , she chose to marry a royal he chose to marry an actress .

I don't blame the Windsors but somehow he should have been brought over earlier settled in with minders, they are so used to their world I am not sure they could begin to imagine his position and state of mind, I can't really. Harry has never even met him.
