Trump Strong, May Weak?

Given that Theresa May is considered by many to be weak, & Donald Trump is considered to be strong, who would you trust to conduct negotiations in difficult & potentially dangerous circumstances.?

I was watching Channel 4 News which was present at Blenheim. All that pageantry with military bands was an unnecessary extravagance. Melania's gown was appropriate to the occasion, TM's was a bit sad! John Snow's tongue-in-cheek comments made the whole farce bearable.

...I thought Melania’s yellow dress was lovely, please excuse the shallow comment.

trisher Fri 13-Jul-18 10:40:55

Anyone watch the parade at Blenheim? Melania dressed as Princess Leia, but without the hairstyle. May in a red dress that someone had forgotten to finish the back seam on. Trump and Mr May with identical expressions. Down turned mouth, the sort of expression my mum used to warn me "The wind will change and your face will stay like that!" The unspeakable greeting the unthinkable.

Do I trust anyone who puts children in 'concentration camps', who wishes he had the control of his population that Kim Jong Un has, and who expresses unbridled admiration for Boris Johnson? Er... what do you think?

BlueBelle Fri 13-Jul-18 08:15:46

Oh Trisher thanks for your words you have put it so well exactly as I feel and would have said

muffinthemoo Fri 13-Jul-18 08:01:35

The way he holds her hand completely gives me the creeps.

I struggle to quite put my finger on why, but it absolutely makes me cringe.

I think because the only other person we see him to it to is Melania, and she shoves him off most of the time we see him try.

It’s like he doesn’t quite see May as an equal. It feels so patronising.

AIBU wink

just as a matter of interest when was America great?
when they came and helped us defeat the Nazis oldbatty, despite the old adage about them

trisher Thu 12-Jul-18 21:46:00

Trump is a racist, sexist megalomaniac who can't even tweet sensibly.
May is incompetent, ineffective and unscrupulous, clinging to power through a massive bribe.
They should both go, and quickly.

Marylou1977 Thu 12-Jul-18 20:36:39

America has problems but it really has been pretty great. Other than trump, why don’t you think it hasn’t been great?

Blinko Thu 12-Jul-18 19:13:41

Trump is weak in the head. TM is not, whatever else she may be.

Marylou1977 Thu 12-Jul-18 17:38:29

Trump is an utter moron and did not win the popular vote. He is not a president for all the people, just his fans and billionaires. He is a profound liar, often going back on what he said in the same day. His cries of fake news are just any news he views as negative, though it may be absolutely true. His fake Christianity is distasteful, as is his trying to bring evangelical Christianity into politics where it doesn’t belong. He only wants old, white, rich, racist men, like himself, running the country. Women’s rights are under siege thanks to him and his cronies.

Pebbles77 Sun 03-Jun-18 14:18:11

Oh dear sorry .. but I disagree about Trump
He’s a loose cannon and dangerously so .... I desperately route for him but he just opens his mouth and off we go again

Pebbles77 Tue 29-May-18 17:53:15

Trump is a nightmare ! Blabber mouth and causing grief ... a loose cannon and it terrifies me

I think they're both ghastly and totally incompetent.

Corbyn and Trump could be a disastrous double act.
The Unlikely Lads

Frightening.

Nuclear deterrent ...not ' nicer '.

Rewind a couple of months and imagine Corbyn was PM and his hard left puppet masters were in charge. Yes..I shudder at the thought.

We'd now have a customs union with Bernier and company in Brussels, laughing that they'd got the UK and its billions by the short and curlies. We'd be tied and bound to the EU forever, as well as funding it.

Corbyn would be having tea with Putin at no 10 and denying all knowledge of nerve agents on British soil and pretending he didn't know where Salisbury was.

And the people of Syria would be subject to any number of chemical weapon attacks as their government and Russia play with lives in a power grab. Our armed forces and nicer deterrents would be minimised as Corbyn did away with security measures and patriotism in one fell swoop.

Meanwhile UK workers would suffer an almighty tax hike so JC and the hard left could alleviate the plight of any number of non tax payers from home and abroad who intend to live their whole lives off the state, courtesy of those who work and pay into the system. Not only that, our borders would vanish and any number of overseas citizens could enter the UK to benefit from the welfare state we have, funded by, you guessed, those who work, many of whom struggle to make ends meet. We'd live in a totally unfair society as Jeremy and co force their brand of Marxism and " equality" on us all. There would be no point working and major civilian unrest would follow. JC and co would delight in the mayhem as part of their plan to overthrow " the establishment" which they abhor.

You compare May and Trump? Why? One is an American lunatic who has delusions of world domination. There is absolutely no comparison between him and TM.

However, make Corbyn PM and see a similar " my way or no way" lunacy.

Corbyn and Trump could be a disastrous double act.

The thought is terrifying.

Exactly Lemongrove,, perhaps we could conceive of a coalition party , it could be named the, ‘ Maybyns Party’ then they could have numerous debates abou all the maybe scenarios.?

MaizieD Mon 28-May-18 15:07:04

The only things that are sure in this world, lemon are death and taxes.

lemongrove Mon 28-May-18 14:59:31

Not irresponsible MaizieD I think the word is satirical, as am sure you would welcome the bearded one as PM with open arms and champagne.??

MaizieD Mon 28-May-18 14:55:49

I think that Mr Corbyn at the helm would be, hmm 'interesting'.

If we're going to hell anyway with Brexit, why not go the whole hog and have a Socialist government too? They had a jolly good manifesto for the last General Election which was perfectly do-able.

I'd go for it, reckless though it might be, and I'd think it very hypocritical of all the Leavers who voted for the UK to leap into the unknown if they think I'm being irresponsible grin

lemongrove Mon 28-May-18 14:46:58

That doesn’t bear thinking about Brid......shudder! grin
