Good evening ladies...and gentlemen, of course!
I am a long time lurker. I think my username is 'Sickofweddingcake' which reflects my...now...attitude for marriage...(having two marriages...and one engagement behind me).
What is the story regarding your user name?
Please forgive me if I have posted in the wrong place. X

YiaYia is Greek for Grandma plus I have four grandsons.

hillwalker70 Fri 20-Jul-18 06:57:56

Mine is what I do and my age.

Yiayia4 Fri 20-Jul-18 06:42:38

My name YiaYia is Greek for grandma and of course I have 4 grandsons.

NfkDumpling Fri 20-Jul-18 06:36:54

My mum was a GPO telephonist too! There were a lot about.

My name is what I am, slightly abbreviated as the full version was apparently taken.

PamelaJ1 Fri 20-Jul-18 06:28:24

Like Lynn and Ruth it’s my name.
I do often think of changing it because I think that if one of my friends, relations or clients joined they would guess it was me.
If I did then I would choose something short and easy to type.

callgirl1
but still connected to my old job. Hubby said I was suggesting otherwise, lol

I have often wondered how you chose your name. Let's just say I knew there must be another reason than the one that immediatley came to mind!
My Grandmother was a GPO telephonist back in the late forties and early fifties.

Ah, there you are number. smile I knew you'd name changed, but I forgot what to. I can't seem to keep adults names in my head at the moment, even some people in real life who I know quite well (a bit scary that), but for some reason I can almost always remember children's names.
My GN name is self explanatory I think; I used to grumble about inequalities and injustice, but as I got older I challenged myself to do something about it - hence I have been an 'activist' since 1992 when I first took part in a protest march in London. I usually campaign on social, rather than political, issues, but I did campaign on behalf of a really good independent candidate at the last General Election.

Lucky it wasn't a bag of rubbish.. smile

Parsley3 Fri 20-Jul-18 00:02:07

There was a pot of parsley on the kitchen window ledge when I was choosing a name.

callgirl1 Thu 19-Jul-18 23:30:01

Mine IS my second choice. I was numberplease because I used to be a GPO telephonist many moons ago, then one day the site wouldn`t let me on, so I had an identity change, but still connected to my old job. Hubby said I was suggesting otherwise, lol!

Marthjolly1 Thu 19-Jul-18 23:07:20

It was just what popped into my head for an name when I joined. Has absolutely no relevance to me as a person .

NanTheWiser Thu 19-Jul-18 22:23:22

Guess what mine means...

Nannylovesshopping Thu 19-Jul-18 22:14:40

Mine is because I do?

Sickofweddingcake Thu 19-Jul-18 21:44:09

Soooo... what would your second choice be?
I think mine would be 'deepthinker' as I tend to over analyse everything! ?

FlexibleFriend Thu 19-Jul-18 21:23:51

I'm very flexible, adaptable etc and I try to be friendly

sodapop Thu 19-Jul-18 21:14:27

Nickname for our much loved Jack Russell.

Greenfinch Thu 19-Jul-18 21:13:17

Finch is the first syllable of the village where we live. I wanted to be goldfinch as we have them in the garden but was told there was already someone with that username though I have never seen a post from that person.

OldMeg Thu 19-Jul-18 21:09:41

Self explanatory

Maybelle Thu 19-Jul-18 21:07:10

Just two random words that fit. Nothing to do with my real name at all

LynneB59 Thu 19-Jul-18 20:40:02

Mine is my actual first name and the initial of my surname...very unimaginative.

NanKate Thu 19-Jul-18 20:30:43

Now just to put a tiny spanner in the works. I go to reply to someone on GN and I can't remember their name, especially where there are numbers involved or an odd spelling. Then I am scrolling up and down to find them ?

BlueBelle Thu 19-Jul-18 20:11:53

Very boring, just a favourite flower

Sickofweddingcake Thu 19-Jul-18 20:09:05

Looked up Petra: how interesting!

JoyBloggs Thu 19-Jul-18 20:08:24

It's my real name, you must know Joe, my DH grin

In fact I signed up about five years ago and I can't really remember why I chose my username, but I think I was struggling to come up with something and just decided a female version of the renowned Mr Bloggs would do.

Thank you all, for your most interesting replies.
Keep them coming!?
