The trend seems to be to have hairless ladies bits, och
No easy way to achieve this except for when we become Gnetters, when they seem to disappear at a rate of knots?
On a serious note I hear a lot of young woman saying their ‘man’ likes it, which I find a bit troubling, ok if the ladies do it for their own reasons , but is their a unsavoury aspect to this particular fashion?

You're damn right harrigran but I fear the trouble is that many youngsters lack the confidence to go against this trend - or any trend. When you're young you tend to follow the herd. Would we be any different if we were still in our twenties? Possibly not, until we saw the light.

I had a bikini wax once... I’d need an epidural before
doing it again!

Of you dry shave down below with a battery razor there is no discomfort when it grows. ?

Many people, men, in particular, seem perfectly happy about looking at porn sites, but seem to view normal nakedness as disgusting.

There has been a furore on Facebook about Blackpool Sandcastle having a private naturist night. I couldn't believe the way people were ranting about it being 'unhygienic' and that they wouldn't use the place again after the slides had been 'polluted' by naked people. A large proportion of the complainants were men.

As for children being allowed to take part, and see all this rampant nakedness, and be naked themselves...well...you can imagine all the posts about paedophiles, child pornography, and contaminating the poor childrens' minds.

it's no wonder that teenagers have strange ideas about what a normal human body looks like, when the consensus seems to be that everyday nakedness is evil.

Oh I say! shock

Body hair has a purpose. If we remove it we are presumably reducing the protection it provides.
I miss my lush triangle!!

I feel a bit queasy, Saetana. envy not envy

annodomini Thu 28-Feb-19 21:10:57

TMI, Saetana?

Saetana Thu 28-Feb-19 21:00:35

A decade or so ago the other half used to shave me - for both our pleasure - and, believe me, we both used to love the end result. However, as anyone who has ever shaved will know, it itches like a mother**** when its growing back. Ladies - never allow a man (or woman) to talk you into this if you aren't comfortable with it, but you don't know what you are missing if you've never tried it. Men shaving their bits, on the other hand, plucked chicken springs to mind grin

Not having too much hair down below is quite nice, I think, I feel cleaner but the men have to do it too.

Grandmama Thu 28-Feb-19 19:37:08

What an eye opener this post is for me, I didn't know about all this shaving nor about the influence of porn. What a sheltered life I must lead! I was shaved before my first child was born, very uncomfortable when the hair started to re-grow. How innocent most of my generation were when young.

MissAdventure Thu 28-Feb-19 19:29:06

I'd rather have a fly past these days.

moggie Thu 28-Feb-19 18:49:05

Brazilian or landing strip that’s mostly what young women have?

Barmeyoldbat Thu 28-Feb-19 18:23:58

Well you learn something new everyday. I once had my legs or should I say part of my legs, waxed it was so painful that after her doing just 3 strips I leapt up shouting no more. Went home and shaved the rest off. So I wouldn't think of having my bits waxed, embarrassing and painful, no thanks. Though I do have my face and eyebrows waxed.

Gettingitrightoneday Thu 28-Feb-19 18:23:55

Yes my thought was not to go shaving ones pubic area or have it waxed. The skin in our genital areas are near the sources of infections.

I once had a wax when I went on holiday for a bikini line.
I finished up with very sore skin. My skin was very sore particularly in a very hot sweaty Greece.
Never again.
Stop with just shortening it with small scissors

Miep1 Thu 28-Feb-19 17:21:25

Funnily enough, my now ex-husband suddenly started shaving his nuts and surrounding area, while cultivating one of those stupid little beards where bits are missing. I couldn't stop laughing, but luckily he didn't expect the same from me!

Ilovecheese Thu 28-Feb-19 16:28:40

I was thinking about Ruskin too "alchemilla". The problem seems to be that there are not enough pictures of "normal" naked bodies, so in Ruskin's time there were only classical images and statues for him to get an understanding of the female body. Nowadays there is only porn for young men to see female bodies.
I think if we were all less prudish about nudity in general, there would be a better understanding of what normal bodies look like.

MissAdventure Thu 28-Feb-19 16:16:06

I used to chat with a Muslim woman online, and she told me that for Muslim women it is a 'rule' for want of a better word, to be clean shaven.
(The men too, I think)

mumofmadboys Thu 28-Feb-19 16:12:09

I found while working that many Asian girls shave daily.

Iam64 Thu 28-Feb-19 15:49:21

Surely indeed grandtante but evidence doesn’t support that belief

grandtanteJE65 Thu 28-Feb-19 15:46:24

Most Muslims both men and women shave both their pubic hair and the hair under their arms, as this is considered cleaner in Islam.

Surely, shaving of women who were giving birth was meant to make it more hygienic if stiches were needed after childbirth?

alchemilla Thu 28-Feb-19 14:30:37

Farmor they used to shave women's pubic area for giving birth, thankfully before my time. Why, I don't know since as PPs have pointed out, shaving itself could produce nicks and infection and just add to female discomfort when growing out. I'm with everyone who says you don't do it if demanded, only if you prefer it. But it's not cheap. Interestingly there was a famous Victorian thinker and art critic - Ruskin - who was apparently unable to have sex with his wife because he thought women were all hairless from his knowledge of classical statues.
