Brexit MEP’s behaviour!

I’m disgusted with these newly elected MEPs! Turning their backs when the EU anthem is played. This is appalling and they should be suspended indefinitely.
I’m ashamed of a nation that can do this. BTW it was reported in the Independent.

I'm not sure that the pdf link is up-to-date.

Agree - Behaviour nowadays from people who should know better is appalling, it certainly doesn't represent me. Both BP & Liberals are hypocrites. It beggers belief that they feel no shame and will collect their hyped up salaries.

have just emailed LibDem party secretary expressing my disgust. I don't suppose Brexit Ltd has an email address. Will find out and pass it on.

ayse Tue 02-Jul-19 19:06:03

When I wrote the first post, I didn’t realise what the Libdems had done. I think their behaviour is just as bad! Do we have any politicians who have any idea how to conduct themselves in public office! I’m fed up with the lot of them. I just feel ??????????

Callistemon Tue 02-Jul-19 19:07:25

I found another one!

Boosgran Tue 02-Jul-19 19:29:30

Yes completely agree with you ayse. I say bollocks to the Lib Dem’s. What a shower.

Poppyred Tue 02-Jul-19 20:05:54

This is ridiculous! They turned their backs to an ‘EU’ anthem, get a grip!

Boosgran Tue 02-Jul-19 20:19:57

Yes, nobody seems to be that bothered about the Lib Dem’s but they were far worse in my opinion. The BP were standing quite respectfully in peaceful protests. Sooner we leave the better.

One thing for sure this lot has put me off voting for the rest of my life. They can all whistle Dixie.
I wish everyone else would show solidarity on that score and refuse to give them a cushy job at Westminster by not voting.

A protest against incompetent politicians ? Yeah, right !!

EllanVannin Tue 02-Jul-19 22:13:00

The Brexit party==the racist party. Fact !

Devorgilla Tue 02-Jul-19 22:40:21

Personally I felt both protests were rather childish and disrespectful to others, both here and in the EU. I rather gathered from their demeanour on the news tonight that both Farage and the LibDem leader realise they scored an own goal and that their 'protests' were not as well received by the public as they thought they would be.

Callistemon Tue 02-Jul-19 22:58:03

I watched ITV news and thought both Brexit Party and Lib Dem spokespersons seemed rather smug and rather too pleased with themselves in fact.

I am so pleased that others thought turning their back on an anthem was wrong. It makes us all appear so rude and ungracious to our neighbours, these were adults totally unnecessary, there are better ways bring about change. I also agree it was unnecessary for the Lib Dems (who I usually suport) to wear t-shirts with such an explicit slogan on the back. No wonder the Europeans are fed up with us.

The Nazi party did this to the Reichstag in the 1929s. Great role models. Nothing wrong with a bit of Beethoven.

crystaltipps Wed 03-Jul-19 05:44:31

If some French people did this to the Queen imagine the uproar. They are complete morons.

Ginny42 Wed 03-Jul-19 07:24:19

The problem is some of their followers would think that funny/clever or both. They're making fools of us with their boorish behaviour. As for the green party member Magid, being quizzed about his presence in the Chamber, he should have turned up looking the part. A t-shirt with 'f**k facism' was hardly the best way to get the message across.

What's with the expletives on T-shirts?

I think it shouts loud and clear the state of politics in the U.K. at the moment. We are truly scrapping the barrel.

EMMF1948 Wed 03-Jul-19 08:15:44

And their salaries will be paid in Euros.

So it's to their advantage to keep the exchange rate low.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 03-Jul-19 08:17:59

EMMF1948

Can you explain that please? I don’t understand your comment? How will they have influence on the exchange rate?

Urmstongran Wed 03-Jul-19 09:17:46

I have absolutely no problem with someone not attaching the same importance to EU that others do, but what is there to disagree with the lyrics of "All people become brothers"?

They could have remained seated and thereby showing that they don't recognise the music being played as an anthem (and they would be in their right, as technically it's just a musical identifier and more on a par with "you never walk alone" than with "God Save the Queen") - I think that would have shown their opinion in a more dignified way.

That said I don’t get the whole flag and ‘anthem’ mentality really. Isn’t the EU supposed to be a trading bloc? Seems a bit daft to me.

Luckygirl Wed 03-Jul-19 09:20:26

It is just plain rude.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 03-Jul-19 09:21:44

Urmstongran I have never understood why a trading block needs an anthem.

I look on the flag as more of a "logo" than a "flag", as Countries have flags!!!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 03-Jul-19 09:24:34

Oops premature posting!!!!

I think both parties were just disrespectful to the people that elected them. I guessed that the BP would do something, but the LD's have gone too far, I complained when I had the "Bo***cks to Brexit" flyer pushed through my door.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 03-Jul-19 09:26:06

Remind you of anything?

It comes to something doesn't it when MEPs behave like teenage demonstrators and people who demonstrate outside in public are roundly condemned by these same MEPs. Democracy turned on its head. The representatives of the people behaving the way the people no longer behave. Oh Brave New World!
