I don't mind a bit of tennis, but right now, as I type the same match is being shown on both BBC 1 AND 2!
(And there's grunting/sighing)
As a licence fee payer, who would like to watch Casualty, I'm feeling pretty pissed off
Absolutely fed up of sport. Why do they assume everyone in country is interested !!!!??!
I don't like watching footie and get fed up when its on for hours sometimes (ditto cricket, rugby). But personally I love tennis so I'm a happy bunny at the moment - but I do know how annoying it is when you don't want wall to wall coverage of a sport you are not interested in. No win situation?!! But as the others have said, its only on for 2 weeks and no tennis this Sunday for instance.
Well said Bravebeth.
I have never watched Casualty.
I don’t watch any soap operas.
I have no objection to having Wimbledon on for a fortnight.
If I want to I can switch off which is what I do when Sue Barker introduces the so called Celebrities who are watching the tennis for free in the Royal Box and being wined and dined into the bargain.
Now that does make my blood boil.
I am really sorry that so many of you are cross. However as a full time carer for my mother 24/7 . It is my only pleasure of the year and for the last 13 years. I have to put up with soap opera rubbish all year and you complain for 13 days out of 365 days - real tennis fans have access to tennis.
Casualty wasn't just late - it wasn't on at all. Nor is the episode on iplayer. I find that it is often moved about for sport with no warning. Weekend TV is dire for non-sports fans. It may just be two weeks of tennis but then there's all the other sports. I even have BT Sport 'free' with my internet but suspect I am paying handsomely for some thing I don't use.
I take umbrage to that comment , as would my daughter, Eve.
( Not quite sure where to take it, but will find somewhere)
Get over yourself.. it was a matter if moments and Dan Evans was playing as was Andy & Serena..you've got plenty of other channels to choose from
I enjoy Wimbledon but yesterday was too much blockning two channels then no Casualty which I had been looking forward to they often take off Casualty when something more important to watch I expect next Saturday will be the same.Keep your hair on ladies!
I can't stand Tennis! Drives me up the wall especially all the grunting and groaning. However, several friends love it - so live and let live I guess.
I tuned in looking for Casualty but so glad I stuck with the game that appeared. Such skill and stamina happening there beggars belief. I was totally caught up in it and haven't watched much tennis for years. Thank you BBC.
Totally agree Phoenix. Waiting for Casualty too yesterday. Same as Holby City last week!
I’m with all those who love Wimbledon but I do wish BBC had a dedicated sports channel because then we’d get even more !!!
As NanKate suggested pour yourselves a nice drink and think how much more you’ll enjoy your favourite programmes in just over a week’s time - yes it really is only a fortnight!
Personally I can't understand why anyone wants to watch people hitting a ball over a net for hours on end anyway. It's just like watching a group of people kicking a ball round a field. How boring are they.
My first post on here. I just lurk but had to comment! As an avid tennis fan I look forward to Wimbledon every year. The 2 matches on both channels was for less than a minute when they do a handover from BBC 1 to 2 or vice versa. I hate football and despair with all the coverage but am aware that many millions enjoy it. I suppose today we don't need to worry so much with Netflix, Sky, Amazon Prime, DVDs etc etc we aren't quite as tied to the same 4 stations.
I do watch Casualty so I wasn't happy that there was more Tennis instead, not everyone watches the tennis, and it's on both flaming channels! Have been watching Stargate Atlantis instead! And why the hell do the women have to make so much noise, ??? The men don't.. ladies it's not sexy, you sound as if you are constipated!
Holby ?
I’ve missed both Holly and Casualty this week. In their place tennis, football, cricket. I’m generally easy going but this is TOO MUCH!
These are the only soaps I watch and are a looked forward to feature on Tuesday and Saturday. Just right for me before I depart for bed.
I suspect the BBC is partially doing this, especially with the tennis to save on their budget. They would be better to encourage young new presenters, to save money on their celebrity presenters. I feel so cross that TV for the over 75s is to be abolished except for those on pension credits and some presenters are IMO grossly overpaid. I don’t care what their market value is; the BBC is a public service, I pay my licence to support the BBC and want value for money.
I’m quite happy for the BBC to use the red button service. They should put the additional sport on there.
???
I agree there should be a dedicated sports channel we don't watch any sport what uses a ball although I felt for women's football team they are very good .there are lots of sports never mentioned I agree blinko far too much sport on news.
Oh dear. Sorry my yearly treat has upset so many of you. Wimbledon fortnight is just me and the TV. Family and friends know it is non-negotiable - no child/dog minding and so on. The BBC's coverage is second to none. It is only two weeks each year and hardly Glastonbury ! Apologies folks but I am having a Deuce of a time. Love all.
I so agree Phoenix.
It reminds of the days when I had to try and explain to two young children why they couldn't watch Playschool and other children's programmes summarily pushed aside because of 'sport.' (no video recorders in our house.)
It’s only 2 weeks of the year ladies!!
I am currently recovering from a badly broken ankle and I am really enjoying the coverage of the tennis on the BBC this year I have my knitting and have been able to watch from 11am-9.pm. Plus being able to choose matches on the red button. It's only for 2 weeks of the year let those of us who enjoy it watch in peace Good on you BBC.
For fans of Casualty like me, I found that I'd recorded tennis yesterday, b ut it looks like the episode is available on iPlayer!!
A bit like lots of others on here, I am fed up with the tennis on television, also fed up with football which should have a 'season' and goes on all year, at least tennis sticks to its' season, and as is said again, it is possible to turn the t.v. off, but that is not the point is it? There are several channels on the television, BBC1 and BBC2 seem to be popular, so why on earth plunge both of them into Tennis during the popular viewing hours?
And why on earth are we having so much football? Of course it is great the women are doing well at football, but for me it was never a game women should play. Can we now have a rest from all sport - except cricket! - get back to the normal and enjoy some light entertainment.
Glad I do not pay a licence fee.
Its 2 weeks a year.in the summer i watch sport event and that it.Life for living not sitting in front of box.Winter is when i watch any Netflix i have recorded
