Angry with OH

I am hopping mad with my OH. He went out this afternoon to do a little light pruning in the garden and I've just found he has totally massacred my Japanese Maple and my favourite hebe.
To make matters worse he's also eaten my emergency bar of fruit and nut that I keep hidden in the tea towel basket. It's always been a safe place but obviously not now.
I am so angry with him I could spit. Do you think I am overreacting as I can feel my blood pressure rising and my face is all blotchy!

Not a pruning one, but when one of the DCs many guinea pigs died I sent DH out to bury it while I went to the shops. I came back to find he'd decided to lay it to rest right in the middle of the lawn, because apparently a completely flat lawn with a guinea pig coffin sized hump in the centre is absolutely fine and I was "over-reacting". Much huffing from him as he was made to dig it up, flatten down the turf and reinter the poor, dead pig in the flowerbeds along with all the other deceased Chen pets.

You do have to wonder what goes through their minds at times hmm

Flaming heck. There's such a lot to look forward to as increasing decreptitude looms nearer.
OH also talks to himself constantly, in an undertone so you can't quite catch what he's saying.
And he leaves the lid up.
Case closed m'lud angry

Just read your post to my husband. Then went on to see all the other posts. Seems to be quite common. I still remember my wisteria. I can feel quite violent about it.

Ah, so it's not just us!

Willow500 Wed 21-Aug-19 19:11:53

My in-laws had the most beautiful flower garden years ago - she came home one day to find he'd dug all the flowerbeds up and planted vegetables! He simply couldn't understand why she was so devastated. I'm sure it's a man thing grin

My trick to keep chocolate to myself is to buy something my husband doesn't like. Mind you if he's been desperate he has been known to eat a Fry's chocolate cream bar - he hates dark chocolate!!

Best laugh of the day. ?

CaroDane….You have my sincerest empathy! I wrote a while back about my husband who did basically the same thing to my Wisteria.
After I gave him explicit instructions, did his own thing when I (very kindly I though) went in to fetch him a cuppa!
Came back to find piles and piles of stems and a very sorry looking plant indeed! Have to say 'Edward Scissor Hands' wasn't at all sorry, apparently it was my fault for a) trusting him b) not showing him properly and c) being hysterical over a shrub!!

Frankly I think he did it on purpose! Have some flowers on me flowers

Caro - I know you're struggling to come to terms with the loss of your maple and your chocolate while you re-evaluate your entire marriage and the man you thought you knew and for that you have my deepest sympathy - but your posts do make me laugh grin

Just the 'work' he did on the Japanese maple is enough of an excuse to hang him.

What upset me so much over the garden was that it's the first year since planting it, that it's ever really grown.
We paid what to me was a lot of money for it from the garden centre, and then got lumbered with minding the GC's rabbit while they were on holiday. Half an hour later the damn thing had eaten £12 of lobelia and I had an eight inch purple stick left of my maple. This has been a yearly occurrence as OH believes animals should run wild and run free. This involved us chasing said rabbit round the garden with a broom until it got fed up and jumped back in its hutch. Eighteen months ago bunny went back to the Lord and my Japanese maple grew and has been my chief joy. Until today.
No complaints to the RSPCA please as that bunny was well treated and well fed. With my Japanese maple chiefly.

A long time ago, when I was expecting DS and was on bedrest, my uncle came to visit and offered to do some gardening. We had recently planted a grape vine and it was just getting established. He pruned it until there was hardly anything left. Maybe he didn't recognise what it was. I was steaming! But I said nothing and the next year it grew really well. Needless to say, he was never asked to do any more gardening for us.

I know what I feel like doing with those shears!
I'm tempted to cut up his Radio Times, he studies it like the Bible then forgets to press record on the sky Q remote.

I find the best place to hide chocolate from family members is the bottom of the ironing basket, nobody goes there. Be assured that if you had a female judge in the divorce court you would get your divorce......the house......his pension......his shears.....

CaroDane Wed 21-Aug-19 17:53:21

I'm doing stew. Sure I've seen some slug pellets around smile

midgey Wed 21-Aug-19 17:49:45

Omg, don’t bother to cook tonight!

CaroDane Wed 21-Aug-19 17:48:46

He's been a right swine this week.
We are constantly arguing because as he's got older he gets left and right mixed up.
For example, yesterday. Approaching lights. He's driving.
It's left. I tell him.
Silence.
He indicates and moves into the right hand lane.
LEFT LEFT i shriek.
I am turning left OH shouts.
Lights change.
He turned right.

Get me a gun.

SueDonim Wed 21-Aug-19 17:48:33

No jury would convict, CaroDane! grin

SalsaQueen Wed 21-Aug-19 17:47:54

That's terrible grin. I keep my secret stash in the ironing basket. In 39 years of marriage, he's never looked in it.

SirChenjin Wed 21-Aug-19 17:33:56

No apology?? He deserves that karma.

SirChenjin Wed 21-Aug-19 17:32:43

They will be the best tasting chocolates you've ever eaten! Remember to add insult to injury by putting the empty wrappers back so he thinks he still has plenty of picture chocolates left - that will teach him to go near your shrubs with the secateurs grin

CaroDane Wed 21-Aug-19 17:30:37

I should add he hasn't apologised at all. And I don't even like maltesers or m&ms that much. But I'll force them down. For spite.

CaroDane Wed 21-Aug-19 17:27:45

Hahaha - you're right! No one eats my fruit and nut and gets away with it.
My daughter says as we've got older we're like squabbling children. She may be right. I know he hides what he calls his picture chocolates which he eats when he goes to see a film with one of our sons. They're usually bags of maltesers or m&ms.
When he goes for the paper tomorrow I'm going to have a good search to try and find them, then I'll eat them smile. As my dear GD says, karma is a bitch.

SirChenjin Wed 21-Aug-19 17:20:02

They have a saying on Mumsnet - LTB (which stands for Leave the B*^%"$d) grin

In all seriousness though - no, YANBU, that's bad and you have every right to be seething. Has he apologised? Not that it will make them grow back any faster, but at least he will show he realises how awful he's been. And the chocolate as well...that man must have a death wish.

CaroDane Wed 21-Aug-19 17:16:38

Good advice gillybob I'm fed up with him at the moment and have a strong suspicion the over enthusiasm was retaliation for him missing Popmaster on R2 this morning because we were out of milk.
And you're right about my knicker drawer, the size of mine I should be able to hide multipacks without them ever being discovered! And my side of the bedroom is strictly off limits
