I think you can see poverty and also feel sad about your own stuff. That's one of the greatest ironies. If only we could look to people " worse off than ourselves " and snap out of it.

Now the press are making some issue about "no one in the royal family is texting them or checking on them". Well they're adults, in mid life, with enough money for their needs and more. They are capable of finding their own help and support systems. In case they hadn't noticed, other members of the family are going through somewhat worse problems, and worse bad press right now than Meghan's been complaining of. The DofE's health has taken a downturn, the Queen is finding it hard to get away and be with him. Andrew has pretty much had the rug pulled out from under his life and his daughters through no fault of their own face a new path in life. Fergie is going to be bankrupt again. Kate's got sick kids (hopefully just a touch of noro) . Anyway how about the Sussexes reaching out to some of them? That might be a good way to get back into the fold.

I think that many foreign tours are to Commonwealth countries who are very keen to maintain links with the UK through our Royal family eebeew.
Diplomatic relations, trade etc with other parts of the world are all important too and the RF, like them or not, play a vital role in this.

With Beatrice and Eugenie even more set aside by their father's effective removal, and if Harry and Meghan do eventually throw in the towel and move abroad for a large part of the year, will Charles' plans to slim down the firm end up with it too slim? William is filling the jar up by having plentiful offspring but it's going to be at least two decades before they're really ready to take on royal duties.

I'd not be surprised if we see Beatrice and Eugenie actually given more to do until the kids are older, since they at least have never drawn embarrassing personal attention to themselves (in spite of the mild eye-rolling about their holidays) and they do already have royal titles unlike many other of the Queen's grandchildren.

If the D of E had been anything of a father, maybe PA would have turned out better. He {Dof E) is a nasty, self opinionated man who thinks normal rules don’t apply to him (and he’s right of course).,He’s now achieved a sort of sainthood jus because he’s old .

Prince Charles wants to trim down the royals to the close family. All the minor ones cause endless trouble and are not needed. Why on earth do we still have any of them? They have no power and have to find jobs for themselves touring Africa etc. but no one asked them to. Harry and Meghan could bow out too since they are so unhappy.

I certainly will not judge the Queen as a mother, I don’t know what or if anything could make cut off from children.

I remember some years ago a mother travelled from Scotland to England every month to visit her son in prison, he was serving life for the most horrific crimes, will never be released.

She was asked why she visited him knowing what he had done
She just replied - he is my son, the sorrow showed in her face,
I suppose - hate the sin but love the sinner.

I have no time for any of the royal family. In my opinion the queen should have intervened when this first broke they all cover for each other. They say no one is above the law but how true is this really?

I feel sad for the Queen from the news reels, the TV series, the clips we were allowed watch. She is from a bygone era, an age where things were done differently.

Perhaps it would have been wiser to hand over the job to somebody younger.

There is not another 93 year old Granny on the planet that has to watch their children hung, drawn and quartered, and stripped and dipped so publicly.

As for Prince Andrew he made an ill judged/informed choice speaking as he did. He looked slouched and couldn't care less sitting awkwardly showing his double chins. Stupid or guilty I know not but I'm sure the truth will out.

I hope this does not affect the Queen's health and she stays strong.
