If you were sitting at a bus stop in the pouring rain....

...with a couple of old blokes also waiting for the bus and a man in a car called from his open car window, "that would make a lovely photo", would you have a. Smiled and laughed along with him, or b. Flipped him the bird for being so bloody patronising and ageist?

There is a serious issue with Gonegirl's anecdote. Public transport services should be improved to the level where bus stops are comfortable and plentiful, buses frequent and comfortable, and what people formerly spent on private cars to be spent on comfortable free public transport, by means of taxation.

In all the years I have been on GN I have never thought Baggs to have a superior approach to life in fact completely the opposite

humptydumpty Tue 26-Nov-19 11:18:07

FWIW, I use traveline.info to try to mimimise waiting times - not always realiable, but you select 'live times', type in your posctcode and it presents you with all the bus stops nearby. You then click on the relevant stop and it should show live timimngs for the next half-dozen or so buses.

As I said, not always reliable (sometimes only shows timetable times) but works most of the time, and means you can stay in the warm until a sensible time.

No. Bags just likes to be occard. grin

Gonegirl Tue 26-Nov-19 11:21:34

I keep meaning to download a "where's my bus" app. Don't get round to it. hmm

Gonegirl Tue 26-Nov-19 11:22:41

Will look at that one humptydumpty. I am new to using buses and never know where the stops are.

TrendyNannie6 Tue 26-Nov-19 11:25:17

I would have laughed, and said why thankyou young sir

moggie57 Tue 26-Nov-19 11:26:32

say i hope you have a good day too.

GG, on a PC you're presented with a map whcih shows all the stops (on a mobile the stops are listed by default but you can ask for a map view), and if you click on the bus stop icon, as well as showing you upcoming buses, it lists the buses that call at that stop and you can download a timetable if you wish. Hope it's helpful.

Gonegirl Tue 26-Nov-19 11:33:51

Thank you. Sure it will be helpful. smile

Gonegirl Tue 26-Nov-19 11:37:31

It's excellent Humptyd. If it wasn't raining and I wasn't still in my dressing gown, I would go up the town now!

Baggs Tue 26-Nov-19 12:57:46

Thank you, glam for that kind defence against SournessPersonified.

What's an occard, gg? (I did look it up).

Gonegirl Tue 26-Nov-19 13:10:12

It's how my granny used to say awkward.

Baggs Tue 26-Nov-19 13:35:40

Ah. TY. Thought it might be.

But, just for the record, I do actually think what I said above about cuteness etc. Now I’m only puzzled with its being seen as "superior". I just see it as true.

Gonegirl Tue 26-Nov-19 14:13:26

I swear to you there was nothing cute about me and those old blokes.

Kalu Tue 26-Nov-19 14:15:10

Hey ho Baggs...You will never please everybody or be ‘superior’ enough to discover an insight into their thought process.

Some puzzles are not worth the bother as you may find upon unravelling ?‍♀️

Keep posting and lang may yer lum reek?

Gonegirl Tue 26-Nov-19 14:19:00

Says her little Scottish chum.

Kalu Tue 26-Nov-19 14:21:19

I think the driver fancied you gg?

Kalu Tue 26-Nov-19 14:25:02

I’m Scottish yes, not actually little, you cheeky besom?

Baggs Tue 26-Nov-19 14:25:40

Oh. Perhaps it was what I said about offensiveness that was regarded as (trying to be) superior. Nope. It's just what I think. It's not superior to express an actual opinion. Take it or leave, eloethan, as, it appears, everyone else has.

I can probably count on the fingers of one hand how many times I've felt offended in my life. I've felt angry or annoyed numerous times. I think a lot of people use "offended" where I would use "annoyed". Offence eats away at a person; anger or annoyance are much easier to deal with. In my opinion.

I do like how Gransnet gives one the chance to spell out stuff for oneself that mightn't have got spelled out otherwise ?

Gonegirl Tue 26-Nov-19 14:28:34

grin (to kalu)

Baggs Tue 26-Nov-19 14:28:59

Thanks, kalu and nice to 'meet' you!

I agree that gg's a cheeky besom. That's why we love her.

trisher Tue 26-Nov-19 14:30:35

Gonegirl I'd have flashed the fingers at him, but then I never did appreciate gobby men and I don't like the rain.

Kalu Tue 26-Nov-19 14:30:43

Oh, FGS, get my name right gg

You know what it’s like on here with the grammar police?

Gonegirl Tue 26-Nov-19 14:33:30

shock

What did I get wrong? I said Kalu. confused
