actually i think it's quite sad and troubling, re young womens' notions of themselves.
it reflects the widespread influence of porn, which is so detrimental to womens' dignity.
many girls grow up thinking images and actions portrayed in porn are normal adult personas and appearances.
does anyone remember what mary whitehouse predicted. exactly this. she has been much maligned and misrepresented, and perhaps was latterly associated with some extreme views.
but originally her concerns were valid. she was a secondary school teacher and had some girls ask her about being pressurised by boys to engage in sexual activities when they did not want to. she tried to discuss the issues with them in groups, to build up their self confidence, so that they had the tools to resist the emotional pressure from boys who said, if you really loved me you would....
sounds familiar, and that was the 1950-60s. so that;s how her campaigning started, looking at the influences in mass media, advertising etc, making females into mere sexual objects for men. everyday sexism, harassment etc. despite the women's movement of the late 1960s-, we seem to have gone backwards. consumerism is so rampant.
the pressue on young women to conform to some porn image, to be obsessed with how they look, worry about weight, figure. all this is disappointing in this era.
