Panic buying of loo roll

I've just been to our local supermarket and they have sold out! It's the supermarkets to blame. They will sell the lot to one person, it doesn't matter to them as its all money. Greedy sods. Well I hope the supermarket bosses get the shits! Haha

Most things seemed available in the Sainsbury’s I went to today. The loo rolls aisle was about a quarter stocked, plenty of choice of brand and size. No hand sanitiser. Some paracetamol. Bizarrely, no strawberry jam!

The only thing I couldn't get this morning was UHT skimmed milk. Pretty grumpy about that because that is our standard milk, I buy a couple of litres each week.

To be fair it would be sensible of most people did have a fortnight's food to hand. To find you have a bad cough or temperature, but have to rush to your local (crowded) supermarket to do a big shop before you self exclude as otherwise you have no food, is just downright stupid.

I saw a remark on a Facebook thread relating to those who stockpile toilet rolls

- I hope they all get constipation

There was a fair bit in the food bank cage at our supermarket today, I was pleased to see.

Our food bank is running short, in particular there is a lack of UHT milk.
Wouldn't it be great if the supermarket raiders actually had to contribute to the food bank before they could buy.

It was like Christmas at Aldi this morning. No tins of tomatoes or pasta - both made in Italy so wondering if they will be in short supply soon.

I went to Asda earlier, and the only toilet rolls available were Asda's own brand, in packs of 24 - I wanted 12, but had to buy the 24 pack. The shop are limiting them to one pack per customer......what a pity they didn't do that on Monday.

Needed to buy some loo rolls today. My usual 4 pack sold out. Only thing available was 2 packs of 24 rolls!!!!!

I also dont get the stockpiling ....least of all of loo rolls!!!

Are people panic buying raisins, or is it just that your local branch has run out? How odd.

Am I being silly to now regret not getting extra supplies in?
I have one spare pack of 9 toilet rolls.
Nothing extra bought "just in case" except for one major concession, I have 3 extra boxes of my cat's favourite food.
Someone the other day suggested using paper napkins in an emergency, on checking I have just half a pack celebrating an Anniversary.

The tag line to this was - asking to be burgled

Just had e-mail about my order from Sainbury's . No toilet rolls, no Pears soap.
No raisins they are sending sultanas, no thankyou, kitchen rolls, may keep those but final straw, Wrights Coal tar soap, no thankyou very much,or am I better keeping it, just in case things get really bad?

Don't tell anyone, but when I was a child we used newspaper cut up. If this gets out we will not be able to buy a newspaper!!!

There were loo rolls in our local supermarket an hour ago. Not the full range, but plenty.
And apparently the shop had been extremely busy this morning.

Memories of being a constipated child, sitting on the loo trying to ‘go’, and passing the time studying the paper with the words ‘Izal germicide’. I read it as ‘Izal jer-my-kid’ and always wondered what this jer-my-kid was all about!

Forget the loo roll, my personal grump is the diappearance of UHT milk. The only milk we use is UHT skimmed milk (don't all shout 'yuk' at once). I loathe milk and this is the only kind I use.

I went to do my weekly shop, which includes picking up the usual litre of milk but the shelves were devoid of UHT milk, with no date for its return.

This crisis is getting serious when my afternoon cup of tea is threatened.

There are plenty of loo rolls stored in warehouses as firms got in extra stocks in case Brexit caused a supply problem.

The mechanics of supermarket stock holding means that they carry very little stock of any product, preferring to rely on frequent deliveries. The problem with toilet rolls is that more than 50% of the UK’s supply comes from China, and a minor blip in those supplies coming into the country soon results in shortages at the wholesalers, which in turn causes shortages in the retailers. Once the shelves begin to look like they are low in stock, people get worried and they buy more. Pretty soon it becomes a “national shortage”. Don’t worry. Things will soon recover.
