Ten thirty p.m. is a peculiar time for an important announcement.
AIBU to ask you to predict the reason?

EllanVannin Wed 09-Sept-20 18:01:12

And why has the situation changed Lulubelle ? Because the world and his wife went on holiday, there were raves, get-togethers etc etc, when the damn virus was still hovering while many mugs like myself stayed put and obeyed the rules from March.
To feel peed-off by this is an understatement. People who ave done the right thing are penalised by those who haven't !

vegansrock Wed 09-Sept-20 17:44:49

lulubelle do you really believe Johnson only makes decisions based on scientific advice? don’t make me laugh - he chooses to follow the command of Cummings and his cronies - political decisions. Example - opening pubs - political decision not scientific. Advice keeps changing because they aren’t on top of it - they are always two steps behind, they give important roles to their friends and relatives track n trace system anyone?

Lulubelle500 Wed 09-Sept-20 17:40:05

It's a virus we haven't seen before. No one knows how to deal with it. Boris can only make decisions on the advice he's given, in this case presumably by the scientists. I really can't understand the crazy negative criticism of him. He doesn't get up each morning thinking: I really want to p**s off everybody off today by trying to save lives.
Advice keeps changing because the situation keeps changing.

Oh dear what about my flower arranging? This week there were 7 of us!

suziewoozie Wed 09-Sept-20 17:33:28

If you live alone and have formed a bubble with your dd, sil and their 4 dc you can all meet up ( as now)

suziewoozie Wed 09-Sept-20 17:31:10

Triple checked - yes what I said is correct. Unless you’re in a bubble of course

Lucca Wed 09-Sept-20 17:21:56

Just to confirm not all cafes are taking contact details. My usual one was closed this afternoon so I went to another very nice coffee etc but no contact details taken

May7 Wed 09-Sept-20 17:12:25

Yes suziewoozie you are correct. 2 household rule has gone. 6 people inside or outside unless there are more than 6 in one household. So...... if there are 6 of you living together then no visitors. If you live alone you can have 5 other people inside your home from 5 different households. Cant see the logic in that myself

suziewoozie Wed 09-Sept-20 16:56:47

I’m sure I’m right

suziewoozie Wed 09-Sept-20 16:56:05

Outdoors and indoors exactly the same

dahlia Wed 09-Sept-20 16:55:44

Gwyneth, I think a max of 2 households. I know friends who tell me that we are taking it "too seriously" - "just relax", and they are 70+ like me! I think the rule about inside/outside was to make it easier and clearer for the police, but I'm just disappointed that our community choir will now not be re-starting next week (following all the safety rules). And my aunt is in lockdown in her residential home, no visitors for five months. Thank goodness she has found a bridge game on the internet to keep her sane!

suziewoozie Wed 09-Sept-20 16:55:25

Different households - the two household rule goes

Gwyneth Wed 09-Sept-20 16:40:05

Is anyone able to clarify something for me please? I understand that from the 14th September only six people can meet up that is outdoors as well as indoors I presume? Also could these six people be from different households? Or is it just from up to two households. Thank you in anticipation of some clarification.

The usual false dichotomy raised by the usual suspects ???

Pittcity Wed 09-Sept-20 16:29:09

I was in town today and saw many large groups of older teenagers walking or standing close together. No masks.
These are youngsters who should be out finding friends, forming relationships and having fun.
Today's facts and figures show what this behaviour leads to.

quizqueen Wed 09-Sept-20 16:09:57

I'm with MaggieT.

Shield if you want to, go out if you want to. Each person live with the consequences of both actions. No countries' economy can afford for everyone to stay at home, if you think that, you are all being ridiculous. We all die sometime, it's a consequence of being born.

‘All the usual suspects’ ????

???

AGAA4 Wed 09-Sept-20 16:02:10

I am not surprised that restrictions were put in place but the onus has been put on families when it seems everything else is carrying on as usual.
This will probably mean some grandparents being excluded from visits to family.

suziewoozie Wed 09-Sept-20 16:00:15

‘All the usual suspects’ ????

Flakesdayout Wed 09-Sept-20 15:38:50

We need a prime minister who can grow a pair. One who can be honest and not scared to make a decision whether it is liked or not. All these months of mixed messages, U turns and unclear advice. Is it any wonder that people are doing what they want. Masks should be mandatory - end of. No excuses.
Two seeks ago was Bank holiday when all the beaches and pubs were crowded and now we have the rise in cases. No surprising really.

Marieeliz Wed 09-Sept-20 15:32:44

All the usual suspects on here then. If you have the answers let us know? It would be the same or possibly worse. If you think your post got through to the Government your delusional.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 09-Sept-20 15:28:21

Race courses have been told no more spectators as of now.

Message got through then

Someone just asked what does the 10pm curfew mean?

Greciangirl Wed 09-Sept-20 14:34:54

Yes, most restaurants and cafes are taking contact details.
