The track and trace people - do they ring you/leave message, phone you or email you .

Can’t you get a test and if it’s negative carry on with your plans

That's exactly what I thought too, welbeck. Flaxseed, it's just one day, soon over. Here's hoping that you're well (far more important) and haven't been spreading the virus. Next year, we can make up for it!

welbeck Mon 21-Dec-20 23:31:21

but i thought tier 4 people were not allowed to meet others except in the open air for a walk.
doesn't actually make any difference to me, so i may have got the detail wrong, but i've just read a resume from the evening standard which seems to be saying that. only for support, or separated parents. not for leisure, social mingling. so would you have been able to go somewhere else for lunch anyway?

Flaxseed Mon 21-Dec-20 19:57:07

In a way, I am glad the plans had changed before this fiasco. At least my family have had time to go out and get supplies! (I am quarantining some food for them in the fridge in my shed!)

Flaxseed Mon 21-Dec-20 19:54:29

I think it’s genuine. It was a notification and when I checked my T&T app there it was with my countdown in days.
Grannynanny That’s what I thought! We are half way through the 10 day incubation period and I have only just been informed! I’ve been all over the place in that time tchhmm

kircubbin2000 Mon 21-Dec-20 19:48:08

One of my Facebook friends posted the same yesterday but today he has decided it must have been a mistake!I wonder how many others have this attitude.

Elegran Mon 21-Dec-20 19:43:40

Flaxseed Are you sure it was a genuine message? I have heard that there are some sick bastards who send fake Track and Trace messages. That timing of 23.59 on Xmas Day sounds a bit suspiciously accurate to me. Is it meant to mean that your contact was at 23.59 on some other day?

Grannynannywanny Mon 21-Dec-20 19:38:39

I’m just thinking the track and trace system is performing poorly with you more than half way through your 10 day isolation period before you received the alert today Flaxseed.

I feel for you, missing your Christmas lunch and then working on Boxing Day as soon as you are out of isolation ?

Flaxseed Mon 21-Dec-20 19:06:51

grannyrebel7 I am working Boxing Day hmm!

oopsadaisy They tell you a date which was no help really as I had been to a few places

I have some Zoom calls planned with my family and plenty of food and drink so will just have to make the best of it I guess!
It all started to go pear shaped when we entered tier 4 so this is the icing on the cake tchhmm

Blossoming Mon 21-Dec-20 19:01:16

That must feel like a low blow, hope it’s not too long before you are able to see them safely. flowers

sodapop Mon 21-Dec-20 19:00:35

That is real bad luck Flaxseed Hope you haven't caught it.
Could you see your family on Boxing Day as Grannyrebel said.
Fingers crossed you are oktchsmilethanks

Iam64 Mon 21-Dec-20 18:56:09

I hope you stay covid free flaxeed and that you manage to muddle through as so many people will be doing this year. In lockdown 1, I didn't know people who had the virus. Currently, I know 7 people who tested positive plus about 20 who have had the virus in the past several weeks. Thankfully, most have recovered. Two of my neighbours weren't so lucky.

Keep safe every one.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 21-Dec-20 18:55:52

Flaxseed do they tell you who or where you have been close to someone ? Or do they leave you to wonder.

grannyrebel7 Mon 21-Dec-20 18:35:56

Could you go on Boxing Day instead then?

Grannynannywanny Mon 21-Dec-20 18:31:50

Oh dear that’s really unfortunate timing Flaxseed. I hope you remain symptom free and also that you have food in the house.

Sarahmob Mon 21-Dec-20 18:30:25

Oh no, that’s dreadful news. Nothing I can say will make you feel any better, but I do hope that you will be able to see your family through the wonders of technology. Thinking of you ?

Flaxseed Mon 21-Dec-20 18:17:51

I received a message from Track and Trace today to say I was in contact with someone positive last week and have to self isolate until 23:59 Xmas day tchconfused!

Boris scuppered our original plans Saturday afternoon, but we readjusted and I planned to go to spend it with DD2, her partner and my DGS. (I am a single household)
Now I will have to spend it alone tchsad
I have had all day to get my head around it, and accept that I have to do this to keep everyone safe. But I have hosted Christmas for years and am feeling a bit hard done by tchsad!!!
