Generally speaking, if you have to ask, then basically you are being unreasonable.
If you can't think is a good reason for being the way you are. Then you are being unreasonable.
If you CAN think of a good reason for being the way you are then, you are not.
Aside from that, where at at all possible, then try to live and let live.

No, I’m never BU. I used to be conceited but I’m perfect now.

Scribbles Mon 22-Feb-21 13:32:10

Well, that's put me in my place!

Peasblossom Mon 22-Feb-21 13:33:35

Ah, but you have to be able to tell the difference between reason and prejudice or tradition.

You might think you have a reason but it might not be.

DiscoGran Mon 22-Feb-21 13:36:40

How very dare you!

Obviously some of us reach our conclusions based on reason and logic. others might base them on feeling, instinct and intuition.
Both groups might well seek reassurance from others by asking whether they are being reasonable or not.

Asking for others’ opinions isn’t an indication of unreasonableness, more an indication of lack of confidence.

Or open mindedness!! And being prepared to accept there might be another point of view!!

jaylucy Mon 22-Feb-21 13:46:38

Well that's several seconds of my life I will never get back !

TerriBull Mon 22-Feb-21 14:44:18

Have you checked how many AIBU threads there are over on MN OP!!!

Human nature to sometimes question your own reasoning, to ask others to confirm a point of view or ponder on the fact that maybe not everyone comes at whatever is under discussion from the same angle.

AGAA4 Mon 22-Feb-21 15:15:18

Some people are made to feel they are being unreasonable by those who are being unreasonable and it's good to get opinions of others as to whether you are being unreasonable or not.

Hithere Mon 22-Feb-21 15:21:00

It depends

If you suffer from nice girl syndrome, it may be a yanbu

JaneJudge Mon 22-Feb-21 15:23:21

the MN threads can be horrible so I tend to avoid going there at all. AIBU?

FarNorth Mon 22-Feb-21 15:23:58

Well put AGAA4.

FarNorth Mon 22-Feb-21 15:27:07

If you CAN think of a good reason for being the way you are then, you are not [being unreasonable]

I expect Basil Fawlty believed he had good reasons for being the way he was.
Hmm.

JaneJudge Mon 22-Feb-21 15:31:36

Basil Fawlty should never have gone into the hospitality industry. I blame Sybil

suziewoozie Mon 22-Feb-21 15:35:56

On MN loads of threads are put under AIBU as it gets more traffic. There’s also a voting button ?Not really a issue here on such a small site - anyway we can put everything now on the Arguments thread which is exactly where this thread should be and IANBU

FarNorth Mon 22-Feb-21 15:48:34

JaneJudge ! shock
You are unreasonable to blame Sybil.

Blossoming Mon 22-Feb-21 15:55:23

JaneJudge Mon 22-Feb-21 16:01:40
