Wembley this evening, no more masks for me..

There is someone in Australia that caught the virus after being in close contact with someone for just a few seconds. And, if someone in a household has the virus, whereas before they could isolate themselves within the house it is now very difficult not to pass it on to others inside the house no matter how many precautions are taken. This is how infectious it is. Even a double dose of the vaccine might not stop you from getting it and, if you do there’s a greater chance of passing it on. I’m sorry but people that are wanting to stop wearing a mask because they’ve been vaccinated are, imo, very selfish and uncaring of others.

Sago I do believe it is still law to wear a mask indoors in a public place, so you don’t have a choice at the moment.

All of these events where people are mixing, are outdoors, and put in place and carefully monitored afterwards as a test to see if we can move forward, they are not just some random groups of 45,000 people who fancy watching a football game.
We have all made sacrifices over the past 18 months and we are nearing the end of only people can just hang in there and not book trips to Harry Potter world when their children are sent home to isolate and carry on following the rules for just a while longer❤️

I understand your point of view OP. I have pulled my mask off in the outside parts of garden centres when other people are not near me. I will continue to abide by wearing it inside shops though.

It's worrying to hear about the jump in cases in Scotland in the aftermath of the Wembley match.

We've had a colossal jump in numbers of cases in Scotland since football crowds were allowed. After 20,000 packed on to crowded trains and went to Wembley, mysteriously, we've become the covid hotspot in Europe. I'm furious. 9000 cases in Glasgow and 5000+ in Edinburgh.
I suspect England fans' families will pay a high price for the those crowds.

I simply do what is best for me. I am not a sheep, I think for myself.

Delta is tearing through our community. I don’t want to get it. I take every precaution I can including mask, spacing and hand gel in my handbag, shopping basket and car. I wash my hands as soon as I get indoors and I will continue to avoid crowded spaces and certainly not attend indoor functions until the rates are lower once again and remaining so.

Then life will for me begin to get back to normal. Which given this government is touch and go at the best of times.

Dilly hearing things like that send a chill down your spine. I still worry about my daughters and their families even though they are all much younger than me.

A friends son in law, late 30’s and double vaccinated is currently in hospital very sick with the delta variant. (Thanks Boris for letting that one get in)

I would continue with the masks. It’s really not worth the risk.

We haven’t had to wear masks in France, for the last week outside but a great many people still do. It’s an airborne bug. However, they still must be worn in enclosed areas, children in school it’s still a must, except in the playground. My grandchildren aged from 6 to 17 do and they are proud to be thought as adults but on the BBC tv today children in England were shown in the classrooms many not wearing any masks but the reporter said that too many children’s tests were positive. If they wore masks it would cut down this airborne infection.
My 13 and 16 year old granddaughters had their first vaccination last Saturday. All children from the age of 12 who can shown parental approval can have them now.

I’ll wear masks for as long as I feel I need to. I don’t want to be near unmasked people out of doors or in shops. I am trying to find my ‘new normal’ by gradually using local buses, visiting friends and going in shops.

Compliance with mask wearing is very high in our area. Cases are rising fast, though, 2,000 new cases in Co Durham in the last 6 days. That is, I think, the highest it's been throughout the whole of the pandemic.

I hate seeing people in enclosed spaces like shops not wearing masks. I’m quite happy to continue wearing a mask, it’s not much to ask.

If you were only wearing a mask because other people were then fair enough.

Just because some people behave stupidly doesn’t mean we all have to. Imo people that choose to are just looking for an excuse to stop wearing masks etc.

Everyone still seems to be wearing masks indoor where I am. Rates are rising rapidly, apparently connected to Scotland football fans recently. I don’t intend to cast aside my masks for some time to come. What other people doesn’t concern me much, as long as they don’t come anywhere near me.

I’m seeing more and more people not wearing masks in shops.
My daughter wears a lanyard because she finds it very difficult to breath with one after having pleurisy some months ago: she has never been challenged for wearing it.
One of my elderly neighbours asked me to order one on eBay.
She uses the bus a lot and has never been challenged.

We shall see in a couple of weeks how sensible this unmasking and mixing has been.

Sago, I sympathise with your decision to bin the masks. I wouldn’t like to have been in that crowd, masked or not.
I’ll still be wearing a mask wherever I wear them now and I’ve got a stock in for next winter in the hope it might save me from flu.

40,000 sago as Chardy said, all tested. One of the governments trial events. But fair play, you do as you wish, we’ll carry on abiding by the guidelines.
