Binders. The world has gone mad.
(598 Posts)Lush and a company called Gender swap are offering young girls chest binders which they can collect without their parents knowing .This can damage chests and ribs but from the comments on Lush page the girls are flocking to buy these.. Sounds dangerous.
What fake facts are whizzing around?
What is the connection between binders and condoms other than the one in trisher's head?
But Lush aren't selling them. They're not fitting them. They're not making any profit on them. They are just providing a collection service. The binders are ordered online.
Lush are doing a lot less than is done in schools about condoms. If children talked about binders in PHSE at school, I guarantee you there would be a lot more fake facts going around than there are on here about binders (and there are already enough whizzing around in this thread).

We've discussed the difference between condoms and binders.
QEDSo you are happy for young girls to play Russian roulette with pregnancy but won't let them buy binders. Funny sort of protection that.
I'm not happy for it, but it's already happened that kids are taught how to put condoms on in school. If schools want to teach about binders and how to get them fitted safely then great, kids can be safe (not talking to people with the wrong agenda who are not trained to talk to them appropriately and not in an overpriced soap shop) Let's be clear. It is LUSH I have the issue with. Trisher, do you work for Lush or something? Is that why you're defending them or calling people Nazi's or Bigots when they have a thoughful opinion?

In 1933 there was a clinic in Germany treating trans people the Nazis shut it down.
Much more relevant than an Act which was actually rarely applied and simply provided local bigwigs with the opportunity to line their own pockets by fining recusants. Catholics survived and in some places thrived.
So now we are drawing parallels between Trans people and Catholics ?!
Rosie51 bravo on blowing apart the attempt to make out that we are bigots just for showing concern about soap shop staff wading in on an issue they aren't qualified to deal with.

I dont know what anyone else here thinks but I think that a child worrying that they might want to transgender needs love, professional help and guidance.
What they don't need is a two-bit cosmetics company with absolutely no experience of the process aiding and abetting them to hide their worries from their parents, carers and struggling on their own without being referred for professional guidance.
Exactly! So well said Calistemon
Young people, including girls, can harm themselves with a whole raft of things; drink, drugs, self harming...... they're all out there, easily accessible, all will cause them long term damage to one degree or another. But we don't promote them doing any of those things because we know, as adults, that they're not a good idea and so the responsible adults will counsel, advise and guide them away from those choices. Why on earth would any sane, responsible adult promote the use of chest binders, that are also harmful, particularly in view of the fact that if that girl does decide to transition, she'll be making the surgical process more difficult?
Keep digging trisher. You still support young girls harming themselves with binders because as you say, the damage is reversible.

I know it hurts when there are comparisons between your views and the far right but face facts there are parallels.
My issue is not with transgender people, trisher
My issue is with Lush.
I think your remarks are becoming rather offensive, trisher.
I won't report your post because it seems you have misunderstood what I mean, but I am sad that you think that.

trisher. I know it hurts when there are comparisons between your views and the truth, but I’m sure you won’t let that worry you. Since I read that you are happy to allow binders that can be harmful because the damage is reversible, and you think your girls would read and follow instructions carefully there isn’t really anything more you can say.
ExactlyMollyggo it's called freedom of choice the same freedom that provides condoms free of charge. Why is it OK for girls to decide to have sex but not OK for them to decide to bind (which they will do anyway if they want using things much less safe than binders) that's a bit like contraception as well.

Anything left in the bottom of the barrel?

Goodness trisha, those Nazis also tried to kill every Jewish person, people with learning difficulties, Roma people, gay men and indeed anyone who disagreed with their distorted views. I thought I was maybe stretching when I compared Russian Communist oppression but the Naxis- next level as my grandchildren may say
Well it was just a historical fact Iam64 And the rise of the right in the US and in some European countries is concerning.

Can you not see the difference between a medical Clinic and a soap company, trisher?
Very worrying.
A clinic where the condoms are just in a basket besides the receptiion desk.
A shop where you order a binder on line and collect in-store.
Well yes. The shop will have a record of who buys a binder, the clinic won't know who takes the condoms.

Sorry, trisher, I don't want to argue with you and I am normally very interested in your points of view on many subjects, but you have lost me here.
It's not the transgender issue we are discussing, it's this Lush company jumping on what they think is a bandwagon in order to make money.
They should not be allowed to do that, nor should any online company be allowed to sell them.
This is a serious issue affecting young people which needs serious and professional consideration.
I feel angry about this and hope they go out of business.
Evidently not Calistemon and now trisher sidesteps into history, which whilst interesting as a subject has, like the flowers that bloom in the spring, tra-la, nothing to do with the case.
Nazis now ....
