Not resolutions, but is there anything you're "not" going to do this year, or anything you "are" going to do this year (covid permitting of course)

For me I'm going to try and go out every day somewhere.

Hoping to start my Linedance classes again on Thursday after not going for about 3/4 yrs.

Would love to hire a small Motor home for a few days and go off somewhere maybe Wales.

Also to decorate all through the house.

Think that's enough for now lol

I’ve decided that I’m not going to buy any new clothes this year. I’ve got plenty of clothes, I don’t need anything new.
I just hope that one of my sons doesn’t tells me that he’s getting married. xx

Having yearned to learn to play the piano since I was a girl I have today booked lessons starting next week!

That's something I've always wanted to do but can't read music.

I will try not to work in to the early hours every night, but to be in bed by 11 pm latest. Not to play Candy Crush for hours in bed but actually go to sleep. To walk daily even if it is raining. Will endeavour to accept my partner as he is and not wanting to change him in to something he is not anymore (sadly) but it causes so much frustration and friction it is futile. As others have said accept what you cannot change, it is so hard when you know how good it could be and indeed was. Try to feel positive when I wake up despite ongoing back pains. The list is endless.

I have a decision to make regarding the puppy I bought in July. She's too much for me physically, though absolutely adorable. She is hard work, and I know we shall have to part company, but I also know I shall miss her company.

I live in an apartment on the second (top) floor. I always use the lift but this year I’m going to climb the stairs. I counted the concrete steps and there are 57. My heart was pumping by the time I got to the top and I was a little bit breathless. This will do me good. The practice nurse suggested it.

I have been told I’m pre-diabetic and I have a Diabetes Prevention course to attend that I’ve signed up for. It starts in 4 weeks’ time.

This year I intend to make changes to look after my health better. Preserve what I have while I can!

What a great idea. Those steps will I'm sure get easier overtime. smile

I decided to #dosomethingdifferent every day!

Day 1 - I got up and had Baileys in my coffee! Apparently it’s a ‘thing!’ Tried it, didn’t like it, won’t do it again! (It was a suggestion so I went with it! ?)

Day 2 - Blanched sprouts and froze them instead of chucking away half an uneaten bag as I usually would. Much nicer than the frozen sprouts that are soggy when cooked.

Day 3 - not decided todays change yet, but there’s plenty of time to do that…

However, I have decided to:

• Get rid of ‘elitist’ people in a group I run on Facebook… the ones who think they’re better than everyone else because they’re older and have supported their club longer, therefore know EVERYTHING - and insist they’re always right! Wrong! They’re going walkies out of my group so they can be right elsewhere. I don’t need their drama! ??

I must drink more water!

I'm not going to watch more than one TV News a day. I've got into the habit of switching on the news morning, noon and night, plus rolling news sometimes. It depresses me, scares me, winds me up and has me swearing at the screen. Day 2 - midday approaches and I WILL NOT switch on TV...

I am making changes to my will and leaving more to charities than to the friends and family that don't give a damn. Sounds harsh I know, but the last couple of years has shown me who really gives a damn. Oh and eat less chocolate, after I get through the large container I have of it after Christmas. That resolution will start around June grin

No resolutions but

I am going to decorate the one room in my home I didn’t do last year.
I am going to keep up my running and Zumba
I am going to be more positive.
I am going to laugh more
I am going to try and say the word no, a little bit more
I am going to love me, a bit more.
I am going to focus on my hobbies of Crafting and upcycling more, when I am not working.
I am going to try new crafts like working with acrylic glass and dried flowers.
I am going to do even more to save the environment
I am going to get a bike.
I am going to change my Doctor
I am going to sort out my pantry and make it functionable with fitted shelves, even if it kills me.
I am going to win something

I am not going to worry endlessly
I am not going to spend another year crying
I am not going to let people use me /hurt me.
I am not going back to ever buying fast fashion and going to continue buying preloved
I am not going to apologize for being me anymore

I’m going to eat a healthier diet and try to walk my lovely little dog for longer, we always go out twice a day but I want to build this up to longer walks, he is only young so will be up for this I’m sure.
I struggle saying ‘no’ to people too so will try to get better at doing this occasionally so I can spend a little more time doing the things I really want to do, even if it’s just sitting reading a good book.
I also want to start doing some gardening, my late husband looked after the garden and did a great job so I want to try and keep on top of it. I’ve never been too keen on the idea but I am having a go. I have already put some bulbs in and have cleared up the dead leaves up so it’s a start. I got some lovely gardening gloves for Christmas so no excuses.

songstress60 Mon 03-Jan-22 11:44:59

I have arranged to have counselling for the depression which has plagued me for years. It was caused by childhood and living in siblings shadow. It has really got to me over Christmas so next week I am talking to someone qualified about it as it needs addressing.

grandtanteJE65 Mon 03-Jan-22 11:44:29

DH and I am joining all you others who intend to get out and walk more and generally try to get back into better form.

We are also on the decorating team - more doubtful that that will get done.

Perhaps some of you would like to post progress reports now and then, it might (just might) help to keep us up to the mark.

Poshpaws
Wishing you all the very best?
Baillie
Love it?

kittypaws49 Mon 03-Jan-22 11:42:58

poshpaws, having lost my son to suicide earlier this year, I can only say, do whatever you can to feel better. Suicide is a way out of your pain, but the pain it leaves behind for your loved ones will be with them forever. I have felt that life is not worth living since this happened, but I have to think of my loved ones ,and animals ,who all need me. I wish you the very best .

Spec1alk Mon 03-Jan-22 11:41:32

Posh paws I hope your coping strategies are helpful in the coming months❤️

Theoddbird Mon 03-Jan-22 11:39:18

Oh and I am going to make a vision board...somewhere to plan my life visually. Diary arrives today so will start planning my life in writing as well.

Theoddbird Mon 03-Jan-22 11:37:30

I am not going to watch as much television. I am only going to have a drink at the weekend. I am going to sell my narrow boat...a flushing loo beckons. Oh and I am going to find that special person....hahaha

Nannan2 Mon 03-Jan-22 11:34:41

Same as last year- that I'm NOT going to make any resolutions, or decisions to do anything i can't keep! Much easier! I have promised myself I'm going to move house this year though!?

Hildagard Mon 03-Jan-22 11:31:48

Sorry not concentrating post said what you weren’t going to do, stay at home!

Hildagard Mon 03-Jan-22 11:30:32

I will do my best to stay active. My two West Highland Terriers will help with that. After being told that I no longer have type 2 Diabetes I am going to continue to watch my diet so that I can remain Diabetes free. Keep up with my Knitting for charity and do less baking, as I am tempted to eat sweet things.

jaylucy Mon 03-Jan-22 11:25:12

Try and get out and tidy up my garden - injured my knee while out for a walk around our local park and by the time I could stand for any amount of time, the wet weather started!
Purchase a treadmill and use it every day if only for 10 minutes each time !
Stop eating biscuits !

To face a phobia that has haunted me for 50 years. To also accept things and people I cannot change.
