To think that Kurt Zouma should be banned from keeping animals after abusing his cat?

Just that really.

I know someone who used to be a (hobby) cat breeder and had trouble with local kids who poisoned/killed a couple of their cats.

They involved the rspca who, because they couldn't 'prove exactly' which youth had done it, prosecuted them for not keeping their cats safe (despite them being on their property, in a locked pen and behind 2 locked gates).

The rspca seized this person's cats, went to court 9 months later, asked the court to make the breeder pay boarding fees for 14 cats for 9 months and to give them a ban. Fortunately the boarding fees weren't upheld but a fine and a ban for 5yrs was imposed.

This was a respectable breeder who followed all legislation and GCCF (cat version of Kennel Club) rules and did absolutely nothing wrong.

When I look at the abuse that Zouma committed, then compare it with this breeder, imo he deserves, at the very least, the same punishment handed down to the breeder.

The fact that he is a famous footballer should not mean that he or his pets should be treated any differently to the rest of us. His pets deserve to be treated with respect (the same as yours and mine) and he deserves to be punished in exactly the same way as anyone else would be.

Thoughts..

Yep.
They must think everyone is as thick as Zouma.

They did specify that the RSPCA were going to be trading the idiot how not to abuse animals, though.
Hasn't happened yet, despite them making out it was being arranged.

But they have since denied any knowledge of such a thing the RSPCA that is

Training. Not trading.

Good grief - just read a statement by Moyes that "he wants to make sure his player's mental health is protected ...." What utter crap. Moyes just keeps on giving, unbelievable.

I used to love football. It has completely put me off the game altogether.

Some of the money should go to Celia Hammond Trust who would use every penny wisely, do a wonderful job and being London based is most appropriate. The RSPCA are pretty discredited in lots of eyes and already receive huge amounts of donations.
West Ham always said animal charities, they never specified the RSPCA.

Perhaps we should try writing to Prince William, isn’t he the President or something of the FA?

Good idea, I believe he is.

I would like to see proof that the fine imposed will go to the RSPCA and other animal charities and that he will never be allowed to own animals again.

Yes because the RSPCA have said they haven't received anything yet and have no plans to 're-educate' this idiot although West Ham say this has been arranged.

Just heard from the IFO - all complaints to go through the Club! So about as much use as a chocolate teapot!

FFS!!!…????? you know what, this is absolutely disgraceful…

LilyoftheValley Mon 14-Feb-22 16:48:40

Yes. A lifetime ban for owning any animal.

lavendermine Mon 14-Feb-22 16:48:30

Yes, I would too.

Also contacted the Independent Football Ombudsman

Yes if I can find it I will write to the football Association as well

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 14-Feb-22 13:58:50

WH are obviously hoping it will go away. Despicable.

Iam64 Mon 14-Feb-22 13:14:21

I hadn’t written to the FA, thanks for that - I will do

Just had a reply from someone called "Charley" at West Ham, following my email this morning.

Quite a long email, detailing what we already know, about the fact that the moron has been fined the maximum that they can do and also talking about remorse etc from the moron.

Also stating they appreciate the seriousness of the situation but feel it is right to let the RSPCA continue their investigations.

Nothing mentioned about Moyes or the decisions he has made, which is to be expected I suppose.

I did tell them I was reporting their decisions and those made by Moyes to the FA which I have done.

Graeme Souness speaks eloquently about this disgraceful episode, well done him, a man of morals in this current world where they are scarce. As for Karren Brady, I agree with the previous poster who described her as a hard faced b**ch.

Why on earth would any of us care what Rachel Johnson thinks?

Iam64 Mon 14-Feb-22 11:56:58

The difference between Brady’s response and the women’s team at the Goodwillie club is noticeable isn’t it

Callistemon21 Mon 14-Feb-22 11:44:45

Oh, I see.
Perhaps I misread it.

Yes, I agree
But perhaps women who enter the football world, like Karren Brady, might think they have to be tough and hard to prove themselves.

Being tough doesn't preclude condemning others for cruelty to animals (or humans).

Iam64 Mon 14-Feb-22 11:40:26

Sorry Callistemon if my post was ambiguous. I was criticising Karen Brady - wanting her more like Souness

Oldwoman70 Mon 14-Feb-22 11:39:33

Well done Graeme Souness - he said what the majority of people think, rather than the "he made a mistake" apologists.

Callistemon21 Mon 14-Feb-22 11:22:42

Iam64

Graeme Souness - fantastic, heart felt and full of integrity. We need more men (and women Karen Brady) like him in football

Karren Brady has been very mealy-mouthed about this whole incident, Iam64.
She hasn't exactly covered herself in glory.

Shinamae Mon 14-Feb-22 11:19:26

I can forgive and often do you forgive mistakes but I cannot forgive premeditated cruelty and the only thing he is sorry about IS BEING CAUGHT.The mentality to post it on social media and expecting people to find it funny….words fail me ??
