I don’t do pets of any kind. Not my thing.

But I can’t see a problem. The machine will be clean won’t it, after all that water and soap swilling about? Like it gets rid of the mites, sweat and skin in duvets?

I think the clue is in the name “washing machine” - it washes things and gets them clean.
Do you have a similar objection to greasy overalls or other work clothes?
Perhaps those people don't have a washing machine or drying facilities? Seems unnecessarily picky for what is a public facility.

YABU. If that's the worst that is going in those washing machines I'd be very grateful. Doubt it is.

But also you're being a bit ridiculous. It's a washing machine if maintained properly then they should be clean. With no dogs residue.

Some people don’t have a washing machine at home and rely on the launderette. I wash my dog’s bedding in our machine, separately of course, and there’s nothing nasty left in the machine to contaminate the next load.

We have a drive through launderette near us on a petrol station forecourt, I have used them for duvets but I do feel a little put off when I see horse rugs being pulled out.

Not sure it’s possible to police what folks put into washing machines at launderettes.

Surely the hot water and cleaning products clean the machine whilst washing clothes. The filters have to be cleaned out regularly, no chance of animal hairs ending up on your washing.

There are people who do dirty jobs who’s clothes could be contaminated with all sorts of nasties are they to be prevented from using launderettes?

I have no problem with you. You wash your pet bedding in your own machine, at home.

Just wish others did.

What’s the problem?
I was my dog beds and towels in my washing machine, then our own washing. It’s all clean and hunky dory.

We are fortunate to have a launderette in our small market town, and I occasionally use it to wash and dry our duvets, too big for my machine.

But I feel somewhat put off after reading comments on our local Facebook page. It seems that people are using the machines to wash ‘dog blankets and worse’.

I have no pets myself, and fully accept that the bedding needs washing. Also that, yes, the launderette is for public use. Just seems a pity that the pet owners obviously don’t want to use their own washers for this purpose, but don’t give a thought to others who need them to do their own regular laundry and probably have no alternative.
