One of my granddaughters, who is in her early twenties has just had a letter rom the NHS inviting her to go for a cervical smear test ''because she was assigned female at birth''
AIBU to suggest this is PC going too far?

Meanwhile whilst we quibble Russia is bombing the hell out of Ukraine

volver my point was to say that not all transwomen are hulking great brutes but can draw attention to themselves in other ways.
My previous experience was with a tall, muscly transwomen with a perm like the Queen, 1960s make up and huge court shoes. A nice person but needing some style tips - a bit like the person I saw yesterday.

Another here who doesn't want to get on the merry go round of trans argument again but....... I wonder if those who can see no harm in inviting Those who were assigned female at birth to attend for cervical screening, can explain why it's apparently not necessary to include the words Those who were assigned male at birth on prostate cancer checks for men?

Jeezy peeps.

Aveline Wed 16-Mar-22 09:29:07

She wouldn't care. Just clacked past me in stilettos. Looked like a stage costume and lashes of make up. Really stood out among the pale faces standing about waiting for a bus.

volver Wed 16-Mar-22 09:26:58

I'm sure she was devasted that you didn't think she was attractive Aveline.

I saw a very obviously trans woman yesterday. Not tall and awkward looking but dressed and made up in very poor taste. Completely OTT. Looked like someone from an old Dick Emery or Les Dawson sketch. A sad sight really.

Ah bless you. You're desperate to have the last word ! Go on then I'l give you that !smile
That's a kind smile!

volver Wed 16-Mar-22 09:23:01

Yeah, one of those as well.

snowberryZ Wed 16-Mar-22 09:21:16

Made an exceptuon grin

volver Wed 16-Mar-22 09:18:42

Oh yes.

I made an exception.

I won't be taking your counsel to stay out of discussions though. I've found a new cause. Although I'm sure you meant it kindly.

grin

snowberryZ Wed 16-Mar-22 09:15:58

This is why I stay off the trans threads

Your words?

snowberryZ Wed 16-Mar-22 09:15:03

I didn't say only masculine men I said mainly. There's a difference. You're twisting g my words.
Maybe you should take your own advice and stay out if these discussions?
You seen to take things way too personally.

No you are not being unreasonable pinkprincess it's ridiculous. How did your GD feel about being referred too as someone who was "assigned female at birth"?

volver Wed 16-Mar-22 09:10:34

No, I'm arguing with your whole premise. That only big muscular men want to transition. But the ridiculous argument that you are just being kind is so egregiously self-deluding that I am highlighting it.

snowberryZ Wed 16-Mar-22 09:08:16

Yes latch onto one particular word and ignore any valid points I've made.
That's mature.hmm

Mollygo Wed 16-Mar-22 09:07:23

It’s just another ‘men want it all their way’ effort. If the patriarchy and their fans aren’t happy with something that belongs exclusively to females, they change the female’s nomenclature so it can include men.
If men were not declaring themselves to be women, or women declaring themselves to be men but still needing the benefits of being women, this situation would not arise.

If this is the standard letter sent out by the NHS - why don't they invite for a "cervical smear test", based on the simple fact that the invitee has a cervix? I can't see the need to qualify that with any other reason.

Unfortunately a lot of women wont know they have a cervix or what a cervix is.

Not my fault you're reading into it.
I do mean it kindly. But I am not going to lie. People can tell. Its a fact.

Before my time, but didn't people used to say things like "I mean this kindly, but black people are happier with their own kind". Or "I mean this kindly, but women are better off without the vote, it only upsets them"

"Kindly" my a***.

Oh, and Doodledog - how is sex "endemic"? That's new.

snowberryZ Wed 16-Mar-22 09:03:47

JaneJudge

I am tall with big hands and feet

Snap! Me too!
However, even though I have size 7 feet nd largish handsthey are still the hands and feet of a woman. And if you were to see a photo of my bigger than average hands and feet they would still be instantly recognisable as those of a woman. Not a man.
The brain is sophisticated a picking out subtle differences between the sexes.

Kindly.

Right. Course you do.

snowberryZ Wed 16-Mar-22 08:52:32

I do notice the other ones. It's impossible not to.
I mean this kindly, but women can nearly always tell when someone is trans.
Sometimes something is a bit off. Could be the size of the hands or feet which are big, or lack of a waist or the shelf of the forehead. Or a combination of everything.
There's always something that screams Male. No amount of makeup or hormones hide it.

So I do think that it's mainly tall, large framed men who want to try to be women.
And why is that?
