Not fit to be prime minister

Compared to many people my disappointments during lockdown were not too bad.
Missing my golden wedding celebrations, not holding my new grandchild until he was nearly six months old. Not being able to have the other grandchildren to stay - they all live some distance away, not being able to attend a close friend’s funeral.
I, like most other UK citizens, stuck to the rules.
Boris and his cronies did not. They held drinks events and parties for pathetic, unacceptable reasons. How can they ever expect the electorate to respect them or their laws. How dare they think they still have a mandate to rule us?

I remember the days when teachers could go down the pub and have a drink. They've been gone a long time. As for drinks in the staff room-that's a definite NoNo.
I'm just wondering though was Fabricant privately educated? Maybe teachers in those schools still knock it back.

Pammie1 Wed 13-Apr-22 12:01:30

So Fabricant thinks we all wind down by having a little ‘drinking in the staff room’ does he ? Firstly I wouldn’t have thought that was allowed on NHS premises - even if it was, the staff would probably be too tired. And secondly, as far as I’m aware, alcohol isn’t allowed on council premises - sackable offence. Contrast that with the fact that not only are you allowed to drink alcohol, but you don’t need a licence to actually sell alcohol, on Crown premises. It’s just diversion tactics. Has it struck anyone else - given the lies and cover ups coming out of Downing Street lately - that Fabricant is a wonderful name for a Tory MP ??!!!

The problem is who is going to take on the job? It's a poisoned chalice. You can see the Tory big-wigs brains whirring, leave Boris in charge, dump him just before the next GE and blame everything on him. Enter GE with a new leader who promises to sort everything out. If things are too desperate run a lousy campaign and let Labour in. Then blame them for everything.

TBH, for all the good he is we 'd be better off with no PM at all.

I wonder if they're still all partying, now that it's legal?

I think life is one long party for Boris. He hasn't changed since his Bullingdon Club days.

It is not even about the drinks, the disregard, the sneering contempt for us little people who followed the rules, he followed it up by repeatedly lying to the House, and if he is allowed to get away with this, our democracy and parliamentary process is in grave danger. I have long banged on about how my dislike of Johnson isn't just political, it is to do with his moral code, his constant lies, obfuscation, deceit and down right dishonesty. This is not how I raised my children, and I seriously wonder what kind of parent those GN members are who think this liar is fit to remain in office. Or do you think that morals and honesty are only for the plebs and that your 'betters' can do what they wish? You people who defend this man are just as bad, if not worse than he is, because you put him there and will do so again given the opportunity. Unbelievable

Totally dishonest, shameless and a disgrace to the UK. But he has the support of the Cabinet and the Tory MPs. What does that tell us about them?

62Granny Wed 13-Apr-22 10:40:56

But he has been paid the £50.00 fine so that makes everything ok. ? NOT. Grant Shapps must have said that line about 50 times at least this morning on Sky News. They definitely need to go but if they resign it doesn't mean an election They will rest replace them and we will get another tosser running the country .
I am not surprised that Johnson lied he is well known for lying throughout his career and his personal life.

I’m at my daughter’s house for the day looking after the children. I’ll have a meal ready to serve up when their parents are due home from work. My daughter is an NHS nurse. I fully expect to receive a text from her saying “running late, just eat without me” She and her colleagues very rarely get away on time. I’m not talking minutes, it’s often an hour or more and it’s unpaid.

I’ll reply to her text tonight and let her know their secret is out and Fabricant has let it slip how they all gather in the staff room for post work drinks. I suppose that’s what my son’s wife is up to as well in the school staff room when she’s late home.

According to MP Michael Fabricant it’s part of the normal work routine of nurses and teachers.

I spent 4 months in hospital - just prior to the zenith of the pandemic. I got to know some of the nurses and heard their stories.

They worked 12 hour shifts - some stayed over their time because they were so short-staffed. I helped one frazzled and tired nurse feed the lady in the next bed to me, she was physically disabled and suffered from dementia... she couldn't hold her 'sippy' cup, nor guide a spoon to her mouth. The nurses took turns, when they could, to give her the next spoonful, or the next 'sip'. But there were not enough nurses or HCAs to operate at a safe level. They were often running after other patients who were at risk of falling (and sometimes did fall).

When they finally did come to the end of their shift, they went home immediately because they had children and families to care for. The last thing on their mind was having a little drinkie in the staff room..

My surgeon / consultant was there at 7 in the morning, ready for theatre at 8... and still traversing the ward at 10 in the evening. He told me that one night he was so dog-tired that he had a fall at home - got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom - was so tired he stumbled and hit his head on the bathroom radiator. He told me this because his injury was apparent and I asked him what happened.

This man, Fabricant, is an arrogant fool who does not have a clue, and suggesting that nurses and teachers behave in the same way as pampered, over-fed, over-indulged MPs is a testament to his contempt for the much-vaunted "British public" whose interests they pretend they are serving.

When will people realise that this government is simply protecting their own interests and those of the wealthy individuals they represent? They are as far removed from the life of the ordinary working individual as they are from the moon. I don't believe they care one jot about the 'British public' frankly.

Coastpath Wed 13-Apr-22 09:40:44

People have been voting Fabricant into office since 1992!!!

"In July 2018, Fabricant was accused of being Islamophobic over a subsequently-deleted tweet he shared depicting London mayor Sadiq Khan, who is a Muslim, in a sex act with a pig." Wikipedia.

There's no cure for people.

JaneJudge Wed 13-Apr-22 09:28:50

that led by donkeys video is powerful

Both Micheal Fabricant and Nadine Dorries are in safe seats.

I was surprised the fine if you pay on time is £30..speeding ticket for driving 30 in a 20 mile zone is more.
Nothing will happen until after the local elections then he might go?
It will be interesting to see the turn out as that will impact the outcome as well.

nanna8 Wed 13-Apr-22 09:26:03

Are you allowed to hold high public office with a criminal record ? Just wondering.

Coastpath Wed 13-Apr-22 09:19:40

Allegra Stratton resigned just for making jokes about parties.

Johnson said yesterday that the country deserves better.

We do.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 13-Apr-22 09:17:28

I have just checked whitewavemark2 and these FPNs do not go on to a persons record, so nobody receiving them regarding partygate will in fact have a criminal record.

I personally think he should go as I have said previously, I also think that there are a number of Conservative MPs who are watching how the electorate deal/respond to Mr.Johnson being given a FPN and will act accordingly.

Luckygirl3 Wed 13-Apr-22 09:17:01

He never was fit to be prime minister.

Rosalyn69 Wed 13-Apr-22 09:12:21

I can’t forgive him for lying. Barefaced lying. Not fit for office.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 13-Apr-22 09:10:46

He is not going to level up.

He is not going to deal with the cost of living crises

He is not going to deal with Brexit

He is not going to deal with law and order - how can he when he has a criminal record gained whilst being the prime minister

He is not going to deal with the NHS

He is not going to tell the truth.

Rubbish about teachers drinking at school in recent years. In my first job the head presented us with one glass if sherry at the end of term 1974) as a thank you. We used to go for pub lunch every Friday & leave head alone in school . 80’s/90’s last day of term- couple of drinks in the staff room once kids had gone. Never during day!! Would have been hauled in front of head. One or two end of term drinks when kids had gone. After that a few younger staff went to a pub….Others just went home! Did know a few who drank too much in their private life- stresses of job ! Same as any other profession

HettyBetty Wed 13-Apr-22 08:59:17

A neighbour, an ICU nurse, sat at the bedsides of dying Covid patients, holding their hands because their relatives couldn't be there.

What she has to say about Mr Johnson is not repeatable.

Esspee Wed 13-Apr-22 08:51:03

The parties are just a tiny part of his abuse of the high office he holds.
He must go.

mokryna Wed 13-Apr-22 08:49:55

Thank you grannywanny.

Oldnproud Wed 13-Apr-22 08:44:55

Either Boris is a blatant liar, or he is incapable of recognising even simple scenarios (law-breaking parties are just the thin edge of that wedge) for what they are.

Either of those things makes him a totally unsuitable person to be leading a country.

Curlywhirly Wed 13-Apr-22 08:44:10

Thanks grannywanny - and as Ted would say: 'Mother of God' indeed ? Johnson must be completely without shame. The list of his immoral decisions is breathtaking. I don't know how he has the face to appear in public and how ANY Conservatives can still support him is just beyond belief.
