to feel sad that the Queen looks so frail.

Its popped up on my newsfeed that the Queen will be missing another royal engagement. There were also pictures of her looking even more frail still. Yes I know it's understandable at her age.
And it struck me that even though I'm a a bit of a republican, I am going to really miss her when she's no longer here. I get the 'feeling' that all is not as well as we're being led to believe.
The Queen has been a big constant in all our lives for so long, that I think you'd have to be a hard hearted person not to feel saddened when she's no longer here.
She's done such a good job.

In fact, the poor Queen can't win. She put her duties before her Children and was criticised for that. Then when she tried to put her grandsons before the wishes of the public she was nearly run out of town confused

Bring her grandsons back to London where they could hear all
the wailing outside Buck house or let them stay in Scotland where they could walk in the beautiful countryside . I think the
people of Scotland acted with genuine respect for grief and with dignity

The Queen wanted to stay in Scotland with her bereaved grandsons, protecting them as much as possible from the public hysteria.

But instead was pressured into going back to London and dragging poor William and Harry out for public viewing. She wasn't the one who behaved badly

I don't think the Queen should have raced back to London either.

Her country needed her? She was in her country.

Anniebach Sat 16-Apr-22 12:31:43

Baffling why some think the Queen should have raced back to
London when her ex daughter in law died, what could she have
done ?

‘Your Country needs you’ , rubbish her family needed her ,

Three of her children divorced , shock, horror , divorce is such
a disgrace ?

I respect everyone who has a view, I dont respect people who insult people like some posters gave done to a very hard working elderly lady.
I am no for lock tugger, but find people hurling insults unpalatable.

Franbern Sat 16-Apr-22 12:17:30

Oh dear, forelock tugging, bowing, Why on earth do people want to demean themselves so much?

Queenie probably really believes that she is somehow much better and entitled, in every respect that us - her 'subjects'.

I care and think of her as often as she cares about and thinks of me (never).

Do not understand all this rubbish about respect. Respect for What? Her age? So does respect increase with each of our birthdays? WHY??

For what she has done? And, that is exactly what??? Got married, have four kids, (no part in bringing them up). Can still remember that photo of her greeting her eldest when he was five years old and she had been abroad for several weeks, with a handshake.

Can also remember how dreadful everybody (well, no everybody but so many) thought she was when she stayed in Scotland with her son and g.son and did not come back to London when Diana died.

I really do not see what respect she has earned. Her sister;s marriage ended in divorce (and queenie was probably largely responsible for preventing Margaret marrying the man she loved). Three of her children's marriages have ended in divorce (old fashioned values!!!). One son, - well we really do not want to talk about him and his goings-on.

So, for what exactly is this respect so many of you are on about?

I feel that, like a lot of elderly widows and widowers, she’s ‘fading away’, having lost the will to carry on after her beloved husband’s death. sad

I know the Queen is caring, she never speaks of this publicly

You don't have to post of it publicly, Anniebach

volver Sat 16-Apr-22 11:39:44

How do you know then?

Anniebach Sat 16-Apr-22 11:22:41

I dont understand why people feel so invested in any celebrity or monarch who neither knows who you are and cares even less

I think she does care but she is stuck with the democratically eleced government of the day, some of whom may not care two hoots. She's seen 14? Prime Ministers so far, will she see the 15th? We can only hope.

That’s you told paddyann. However, if you care to be disrespectful to the grandson who founded the Invictus Games then you will be welcome with open arms.

Is that the grandson who served as a soldier and was fully respected and trusted by his men?

No, no respect for him, of course not.

rafichagran Sat 16-Apr-22 11:03:33

she said she didn't care of she was disrespectful grin

That's true she did. Makes it alright then.

Anniebach Sat 16-Apr-22 11:00:52

I certainly didn’t think the Queen would take part in it,

maddyone Sat 16-Apr-22 10:45:59

Will their visit to see the Queen be included in the Netflix film
of them at the Invictus Games !

I don’t think it will. They may be shown going there, or not, but I doubt that the royal family would agree to letting the Netflix film crew in.

Paddyanne it is not about being forth right as one poster stated, you were disrespectful. I respect you are a Republican, and when she does die, I will not feel sad, but I will reflect on what a hard working, dedicated woman she was, who I think served her country well.
As a Republican Paddy you can put your views without being hostile. Admitting you are disrespectful to a very elderly person is disgraceful.

Anniebach Sat 16-Apr-22 09:18:28

Am sure it will be ‘lem*

Joseanne Sat 16-Apr-22 09:17:52

Probably Anniebach but I think the parachute stunt might be a bit too adventurous for The Queen now. More the sedentary James Bond desk role!
Oh and a corgi/dorgi or two to make it look authentic.

lemsip Sat 16-Apr-22 09:13:16

You bet!

Paddyann, I wasn't offended by your post at all

Nor was I Paddyann . *

I believe Harry and Meghan met with her yesterday.
