What current day words drive you up the wall?

I really like the expression "drives me up the wall".
I haven't heard it for yonks!

Fur baby and uni make me cringe, but the the one word I can't bear is - snuck!

I don’t think any of the examples mentioned would drive me up the wall. However, I do dislike “Don’t get me wrong” when someone is saying something and then feeling they need to defend themselves.

There are some sayings which annoy me, but I think we also have to recognise that language is constantly evolving too. Imagine if we were all still going around speaking as they did in Shakespearean times, for instance?

When politicians try to give credence to their point by saying ‘People want…’. Or ‘People think…’. I suspect ‘people’ are not consulted and it’s what that particular policies thinks or wants.

Basically, at the beginning of every sentence.

Amazing or awesome, when it is just ordinary.

Girls, when referring to anyone over 18.

The words ? Or the concept ?

"You guys", "Cool", "My lovely", "Hon" or "Hun", "I'm good" "Awesome".

Just though of another one. Shop assistant "Would you like a bag today?" I'm always tempted to say "No, I'll have one next Friday!"

Medal used as a verb.
So fun, instead of such fun.
Right? at the end of a sentence.

I'm good, instead of I'm well.
Joined up thinking.

My truth/her truth/his truth, what's up with 'the truth'.
I can't say I use 'his truth'; but 'the truth' is similar to 'the facts'. Many people claim to know them, but sometimes they are open to interpretation, just as sometimes people have different 'truths'.

One that annoys me is 'purchase' instead of 'buy'. It's not so bad when it refers to a valuable item like a house, but when it's 'we purchased a bucket from B&Q' it sounds ridiculous.

Others that are irritating when people use them to pepper the conversation include:
'He turned around and said . . . ', Again? He must be dizzy
'. . . . . you know what I mean?' Yes, we are speaking the same language.
'At the end of the day. . . .' I go to bed.
'end of!' or 'simples' - unoriginal and grabbing the last word for yourself.
'I'll tell you what it is . . .' You mean you'll give me your opinion?

Go with the flow annoys me!

Research when they mean 'I googled it'

"Excuse me" when it is used not in the polite form but as a way of butting in

I always say, ‘good’ when people ask how I am. I think it is an Aussie phrase from way back. As in
‘How ya goin?’
‘Good’
‘ That’s Good’ and the other one,’Yair,no’ has been around since the year dot over here.

My Nigerian friend educated me but here’s an article on the word. It’s been around for a very long time.
