Just finished reading about the rise in the energy cap announced today and the forecast of gloom and doom to come. The cap was within £5 of the predicted figure and yet neither candidate for PM would say what they would do to help, until it was actually announced. The Tories have been in turmoil for months and the leadership contest seems interminable. All the while, the crises we face seem to deepen and the government seems to be MIA, or AWOL, depending on how you view it. I was wondering how long people think it will be before a general election is called, what you think will precipitate it, and what the result might be.

i think another leadership election spring 2023, followed bu Boris back as leader and then a GE because they truly believe he is their saviour.

I think (or hope?) that Truss will make such an absolute horlicks of the job that the whole lot will come crashing down. I do wish that Starmer would man up though and give some leadership. We are in for a rough few months, but hopefully it will be the end of this selfish, venal group of people. On that basis, could be early spring 2023, but I predict that Truss will be finished, and disgraced by Christmas.
