It may be me . . . but is anyone else left feeling a little "icky" by the advert for Bold washing pods featuring a 'Dad' being sent out on a date in his best shirt by his daughters?

He may not be 'Dad' of course. Maybe he is Uncle Jim or much much older bro.

Just feels . . . creepy.

Do the girls wait up to hear a blow by blow account of his evening out (note the heart messages signalled as he sets off down the pathway)?

The Pure cremation one and… “my lot know how to party”😂😂😂
Verisure alarms….
Daisy,daisy b****y Daisy
All grate on my nerves..🤦‍♀️

I think that’s the On the Beach one aquagran. Definitely one company to avoid if they’re promoting that family!!

JaneJudge Sat 04-Feb-23 13:33:35

The viagra on the cruise one makes me cringe

JaneJudge Sat 04-Feb-23 13:35:37

my Mum always says, from the adverts on tv you would think only women have continence problems angry

Katek Sat 04-Feb-23 13:45:55

Shinamae - so glad you brought up the "my lot know how to party"! That's a party? 6 assorted age adults and a preschool child? I usually end up 'raising my voice' (aka shouting) "Party? For god's sake that's not a party! " It's one of my most hated ads. The 'pee pants' woman who ends up sitting on someone's shoulders at a concert....,...it's dreadful. Hope she got well paid as she'll forever be known for that ad

Daddima Sat 04-Feb-23 13:49:20

Do the Always ads really need the red liquid?

Dickens Sat 04-Feb-23 14:01:24

Sparklefizz

Dickens The idea that a mundane household cleaning agent can transform your life is just rather silly. Of course it's nice to put on clean fresh clothes - we do it every day, it's part of life's ritual but it's not going to make or break your 'date' night!

Clean clothes - or lack of - would "make or break a date night^ as far as I'm concerned! smile

I met someone on a blind date many years ago and he turned up in old worn cords with baggy knees, a stained tee shirt and muddy shoes. We didn't meet again.

Clean clothes - or lack of - would "make or break a date night as far as I'm concerned! ^

... of course! But that's down to personal hygiene... his clothes don't have to smell like he's been stuck all afternoon behind the fragrance-counter in Boots...

Your blind date - I'm just trying to imagine how you must have felt when he introduced himself. Did your mind immediately start planning an emergency "something's-just-cropped-up" escape? Shudder!

harold Sat 04-Feb-23 14:16:04

My mind seems to switch off when the adverts come on. The only one that gets my attention briefly at the moment is "Go Compare"

Georgesgran Sat 04-Feb-23 14:24:26

The ‘my lot love to party’ chap also has a small independent general dealers and a Verisure alarm.
Advertising agencies must think he has an honest face!

Yes, to all of these grin

The Verisure lot are so selfish - 'Oh, my neighbour has just been hacked to pieces by an axeman.' '
Never mind about that, dear - we'd better get an alarm'.

'Oh hello, neighbour! Look - we've got an alarm fitted.'
'Humph. Can't have that. We'll order one too, so they don't have something we don't.' Not a word of concern or an 'are they ok?'

I agree about the terrible party, too. And the irritating Daisy one.

Has anyone mentioned June and her parsnips? What's the chap's name again? I can't remember, but he mansplains over 50s plans to adoring women and I want to kill him.

Blondiescot Sat 04-Feb-23 14:52:22

Oh dear, I thought we moved on from the days when advertising sanitary products was even an issue? And why should the liquid shown be red? I could never understand why it was always blue? The stigma around periods should be a thing of the past now, surely?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 04-Feb-23 14:56:31

I swear that man’s on commission Doodledog, the way he whips his phone out so the woman can apply for insurance.

ExperiencedNotOld Sat 04-Feb-23 15:10:26

I do wonder whether they strive to slightly irritate so that you remember the product. After all, if the price is right would we not buy something anyway, whether you’d seen an annoying ad or not.
I find those that leave you completely forgetting what it is they’re advertising the worst, those arty farty ones. But I suppose I do watch them through just to satisfy my irritation about not remembering the product. I can’t give an example as I can’t remember!

Grandmabatty Sat 04-Feb-23 15:13:28

Doodledog Derek!

Doodledog Sat 04-Feb-23 15:33:44

Grandmabatty

Doodledog Derek!

Yes!

Maybe he is on commission, GSM, or maybe he has got rich by murdering all the local widows he's picked up at the garden centre, pocketing their insurance money and burying them in his parsnip patch.

Sassanach512 Sat 04-Feb-23 15:37:53

Agree Doodledog I know where I'd like to shove Derek's parsnips!
What about that dreadful yodelling one? it makes me want to throw things at the telly angry

The Dominoes and Just Eat ads get the volume turned down and that silly Pot Noodle ad with the donkey getting a piggy back, what is that all about.

Caleo Sat 04-Feb-23 16:41:54

That creepy man on the dating website who sticks his tongue out in imitation of a Picasso-esque picture annoys me when I don't look away in time

rockgran Sat 04-Feb-23 16:43:47

I can often remember the ads but rarely the product brand so they are a bit wasted on me!

welbeck Sat 04-Feb-23 17:07:25

i turn over when the ads come on, so i watch bits of different programmes.
i find that preferable.
i rarely watch drama, unless it was made some time ago, last century.

Bridgeit Sat 04-Feb-23 17:20:11

Not a bad idea to show a Dad being supported by his daughters & encouraging him to ‘ scrub up well’ good on them .

Bridgeit Sat 04-Feb-23 17:22:05

I refer to the advertisers.

hollysteers Sat 04-Feb-23 17:32:32

The Welsh chap with the irritating sing song voice urging us to sell our gold items and be AMAZED at how much money we can make.

Jalyn Sat 04-Feb-23 17:42:55

Caleo I’m with you on that add. Very annoying.
