It's the fact that people are willing to lump the whole of the trans community into a representation of male toxicity while allowing that some men are wonderful and respectful of women that highlights exactly the lack of logic in many of the arguments here

I think your statement here is acknowledging that TW are men and for sure some will be wonderful and respectful of women, but there's a proportion who make themselves very visible by continuing to display male toxicity, especially those delightful specimens who carry banners, for example, inviting 'terfs' to suck their lady dicks. I'd suggest your logic of if men wore pink and flowers equality would be advanced is illogical. Nobody lumps the whole trans community into a representation of male toxicity. For a start I've not seen anybody say transmen suddenly become toxic and violent.

Nobody has lumped 'the trans community' into anything, and particularly not male toxicity. In fact, the only person mentioning toxic masculinity is you, VS.

I'm another with a lovely husband, a lovely son, and lovely male friends. I know that toxicity exists, but it doesn't impinge on me very often.

As my husband still puts up with me and my sons all want to spend time with me I guess I'm not a member of the toxic women group either

We will know for sure it is a biological reality that for some, something goes wrong in early development and their sex is wrong for them

Biological reality is that you are the sex determined by your DNA. Not being happy with the physical presentation your sex displays does not mean their sex is wrong for them. Besides which you know as well as I do that the vast majority of transwomen retain their penis. Some even claim to be lesbians and want to use that same penis for sexual activity with women with a vagina. Remarkably like heterosexual activity.

I have a husband and four sons, all of whom are lovely men. My dad was an ever present, as was my brother. They all have very individual personalities but guess what they have in common.......they respect women, and women's rights to privacy, dignity, safety and same sex spaces.

How times change. In the power cuts of the 1970s there was much discussion in my primary school about whether we women teachers should be allowed to wear trousers at school to keep warm.

That’s up to you of course. I’m not suggesting it’s representative of the majority of trans people. It’s certainly representative of a noisy, aggressive, vocal group of activists. We may not like it, we may wish it to be different , but it lives amongst us and is ignored at our peril

On the skirt issue. There are many reasons women chose to wear trousers - men can’t look up them and they’re more practical for many activities. They’re also warmer in winter amongst a few positives

I'm giving little attention to this as it is not representative of trans people as a whole and wildly inappropriate to use as a method of proving me "wrong"

Well it's about time we did away with toxic masculinity... without it we would never have needed feminism in the first place

Men wearing pink and flowers will not empower women, men wore pink, flowers, lace, frills and perfume in the 18th century - and I don't think it had any effect on women's equality with men. It wasn't until the end of the century that women's role as housekeeper and child-bearer, when her sole purpose was to find a husband, obey him and re-produce, began to change.

The empowerment of women comes from having the same power as men, the same economic freedom.

And, back in the 19th century - many children wore white - it was easier to clean - using bleach. When colours were eventually chosen - pink was for boys, and blue for girls!

Abolish all the gender norms \o/

Not sure how you 'abolish' gender norms other than not enforcing them. Great let's do that, and acknowledge sex is immutable and decided by your DNA not 'assigned' by anyone. Teach respect for sex differences and the absolute right to privacy, safety, dignity and same sex spaces. Win, win.

We've come full circle. If we abolished all gender norms there would be no need for people to transition, or to feel that they are 'in the wrong gender', whatever that means.

This is what people have been saying on these threads since the dawn of time, but get shouted down for our pains.
