The young Jewish father isn’t worth discussing, he is a Jew

Rishi addressing the nation.
(171 Posts)Just listening to our Prime Minister addressing the nation.
It is truly appalling that he is being heckled.
Where on earth are the Police?
Says it all about our Country right now.
And before anyone jumps on Anniebach in 😯 🤯
Yes, I get it, Annie
I don’t think Sunak’s personal financial position is worthy of discussion. He is a weak pm who has supported previous weak pms and cheered the rhetoric of division . He has not been elected by the public nor his dreadful predecessor who cost people £hundreds on their mortgages. Time to get rid.

We have an internal enemy, wether you like it or not. People who come over here, and their first allegiance is definitely not to this country.
“I'm speechless...”
Me too!
Perhaps that's the problem not allowing people to speak about this and shutting down debate with shouts of racist and anti Muslim.

Obviously not Anniebach but I hazard a guess that if he had been a Muslim it would be front page news…
I don’t think it matters who’s in charge, this country is in a dangerous mess & it’s really not looking good for the future.
A change a PM will be like rearranging the deckchairs on the titanic - essentially pointless.
Freya just because T Blair went along with PFI - agreed dreadful decision, doesn’t mean this current governments record is fine . Did we have wholesale privatisation of prisons, children’s services, probation services, education, , pollution in our rivers before ? Answer: No . This governments record is abysmal and no amount of whataboutery changes that,
He had his child with him.
How many grans on here would be happy if that happened to their grandchild?
Clearly the answer is none.
So why is it a none issue because the child is Jewish?
But because Sunak has no worries over his gas bill, that’s a big issue.
I know which I think more important.

Unfortunately I agree with you.
Yes, of course, you are completely correct! I guess I just let my emotions cloud my thinking! I just feel sometimes having an out of touch Cabinet, led by many PMs across the last 14 years has led to a bigger divide between the “haves” & the “have nots” and whilst I agree 100% that those who can work, should work, there’s still many who genuinely cannot work living in dire circumstances. There’s still people on low incomes only just surviving and there are working people using food banks. This cannot be right or moral?
I'm not disagreeing at all. The divisions in the UK are wider than ever, and it is neither right nor moral that people should 'just survive' when they are working, or if they are unable to work. My point is not (and never has been) that those who are unable to work should so so, or that they should scrape by, but that we need to widen the range of those who pay tax - the 'economically active' as they are now called - so that those in need have more people supporting them, and their lives can be much better. As it is, those on PAYE and those who honestly complete tax returns support everyone else, whether the people being supported are able to contribute or not. That seemed to work in the days when one salary would keep a family and women could retire at 60, but it doesn't now, even though we all work longer and most families need two salaries to survive. Clearly things have changed, but we resist changes in society that would better align with the current economic situation. It's just not fair to expect a shrinking number of working people to support a growing group of the 'economically inactive'.
Taxation needs to be reorganised so that we all pay in, not just those in paid employment. If that happened, it may be possible to make exceptions based on fairness - for example, to take pensioners out of tax, or to build in tax holidays for those who want to have more spending money whilst bringing up children, or doing other things such as travelling or studying. There would be more money to spend on health, education and housing, and fewer people would be just surviving.
As it is, however, when people can opt out (which is not the same as being unable to work) and when wealth is untaxed, the burden falls on too small a number of people.
“Upthread it was mentioned that a young Jewish father was screamed at on the tube and told he was killing babies in Gaza. No one on here seems care too much about that, what they care about is whether Sunak knows what it’s like to struggle to pay his gas bill. Well news alert, neither do the majority of you! Nor do you know what it’s like to be screamed at on the tube and told you’re killing babies in Gaza. Little condemnation for that, but plenty for Sunak because he doesn’t struggle to pay his gas bill. “
I condemn this bahaviour towards anyone of any faith! It’s totally unacceptable.
Sunak’s issue isn’t being rich, it’s about his apparent complete lack of understanding about not being rich and doing very little to help the most vulnerable in our society as well as our essential workers, nurses/teachers/police etc etc. Him being poor wouldn’t help anyone!
Doodledog
I agree completely! I think we’re on the same page! I sometimes let my passion for fairness and emotions get in the way of logical thinking!

Sorry, but that’s rubbish! None of us on here would condone this kind of completely unacceptable behaviour whoever it was directed at! Most especially in public in front of children. It’s not acceptable in any form!
Because some of us have criticised the Israeli govt doesn’t make us anti Jews, innocent people in both Gaza and Israel are dying needlessly, just as young Russians and Ukrainians are, I don’t support Hamas, I do support a ceasefire!

Actually it is not rubbish.
Was this incident on any of the front pages?
Was this the lead or even reported on the breakfast news, lunchtime news, 6pm or 10pm news?

Funny how this thread is now debating the rich -v- the poor.
Why do we collectively ignore the elephant in the room? It’s about Islamists folks.I agree, and I think that’s what Sunak was talking about, but he had to be careful and choose his words carefully.

Incidentally, I’m not a Sunak fan!
How things get distorted in the telling.
I've looked at the video. A black man is reading from the bible to the Jewish father. The Jewish father largely ignores him. A Muslim woman standing next to him with a child in a buggy reprimands him.

A true example of how Muslims support Jewish people.
The man is just as abusive to the Muslim woman I wonder why that isn't in your post?

Actually, I do know what it’s like to struggle with bills, I was a working single mum for 9 years, with a mortgage and VERY expensive childcare, no help in those days with childcare costs! I struggled to balance my budget and pay my bills!

Maybe because it’s a different incident ?

I was expecting an announcement, that would reveal decisive action to be taken on some issue (obviously did not know what, in advance)
What a disappointment, all it was was something that could jsut as easily have been announced in Parliament. or published as a press release.
When will this lot (or any lot) realise that words mean nothing and we are no longer deceived by them. What we want is decisive action.
This
He has a real image problem. He comes across as weak, out of touch and unrepresentative of common values.
It was a good speech, in that it voiced the opinion of many people, who feel they can't go out without being faced with shouting, placards, and general in-your-face aggression. Depends where you live, of course. I thought it was brave, to be honest, but he'll be getting a great deal of threats and hate I expect.

So post the incident you are referring to.
This is what comes up when you put Jewish father abused on Tube into a search If there is another post evidence of it.
Otherwise it is a Christian who abuses both a Jew and a Muslim.
Which I can see wouldn't fit some people's preconceptions.
Glorianny who are these ^some people?

Is this the one? It is awful and it is to be condemned and has rightly been reported as Hate Crime and is being investigated by the police
Glorianny the transport police are investigating the incident as antisemitism.
