I had an Australian uncle (married to my mum's sister) and he had all sorts of stories about real and imaginary beasties that lived in Australia. There was the bunyip which I believe is a well known myth. Then there was the dunny spider that crawled up out of the loo and bit you on the bum. The only other one I can remember offhand was the hoop snake that put its tail in its mouth and turned itself into a hoop so that it could roll along and chase you. There were others but these are the only ones I can remember.
