I remember this heading from Guess who? Giving my age away 😆

During the last war my dad was in the Home Guard. I was too young to remember.

I used to love hearing of his exploits as he was very much a comedian and made folk laugh.

At age 7 he told me of the time the platoon were on the parade ground having to do drill and march back and forth.

„“‚And do you know“ he said „I was the only one in step“.

I was so happy and proud at how clever he was. I could not believe how clever.

Next day at school I could not wait to tell my friends about my clever dad.

Yes it was ages before the penny dropped.

Oh Poppyjo that’s a wonderful tale. What a witty Dad.

Good morning everyone. The wording of the heading was from Max Bygraves of course. 😆

I had an Australian uncle (married to my mum's sister) and he had all sorts of stories about real and imaginary beasties that lived in Australia. There was the bunyip which I believe is a well known myth. Then there was the dunny spider that crawled up out of the loo and bit you on the bum. The only other one I can remember offhand was the hoop snake that put its tail in its mouth and turned itself into a hoop so that it could roll along and chase you. There were others but these are the only ones I can remember.
