It feels like weather forecasts aren’t getting it right. I’ve noticed in the north east we get yellow warnings for bad weather but most often it doesn't occur. Maybe we are lucky but are the forecasts efficient?

When the Met Office say it is the warmest/driest/coldest Spring for xx years they are taking into account the whole range of temperatures/rainfall etc across the whole of the UK.

Apparently Scotland and Ireland had a warmer start to the year than usual. It may only have been 1 degree warmer, but it may be enough to put the overall temperature up by a quarter of a degree.

We've had a really dry year where I live but the amount of rainfall in other places could make it a 'much wetter Summer than usual' as far as the Met Office is concerned.

Apparently the met office say we have had the hottest spring since records began. Do they live in a parallel universe? I have been so, so cold these last couple of months. I live in london and there has been a permanent black cloud which won’t shift, apart from yesterday! Hurry up summer! We’ve even had the heating on once or twice which was unheard of for us in April/may! And it has rained and rained.

That's weird because I also live in London and we've had lots of hot sunny days. In fact the Air/Con has been on most days and quite often in the night as well. My garden has been complaining of lack of rain too.

The weather in London and the whole of the south east has been pretty hot for weeks, even too hot on occasion. There has been occasional rain but not nearly enough.
Looking at he grass in the parks there is scorched.

Our grass in the back garden is sodden and the golf course had to close, because it was waterlogged. You can have some of our torrential rain, Babs. I am happy to share. 😉

I can never understand the world-wide obsession with summer! I absolutely hate it! Give me beautiful winter each and every time!

I purchased a heavy duty raincoat yesterday. I was tempted to take off the tags and wear it! 😂

The average summer temperature was 14.37C, as northerly winds brought cold Arctic air to the country. This is 0.22C below the UK long-term average between 1991-2020. The last time the average summer temperature was this low was 2015, when it hit 13.91C

@RosiesMaw2, the average temps for this summer are mainly caused by the much cooler temps in the North, but there has very much been a North/South divide. Here in the South the weather has been sunny and dry for weeks now, with just a couple of days when there were grey skies and rain, in fact the good weather started just before the schools broke up and temps are still 20/21 all this week . Am not rubbing it in, tbh has been too hot for me on occasion and the lawn is dried stubble.
I think the kids down here definitely got a good summer hol.

It really was Indian Summer weather here yesterday - even the wind was warm!

As summer is almost over and the temperatures have lowered, have you got your blankets and extra duvets out for winter yet?
Be sure to give them all an airing, and bleed your radiators so you get optimal heat from them.
Also, put foil behind your radiators so the heat radiates back into the rooms!

I live in the Home Cointues- does that qualify as South? - and most of agree that this has been a pretty underwhelming summer. Temperatures of 20/21 are nothing to write home about and sunny spells have tended to be just that - a few days - apart from a glorious week at the end of June and the odd week in July and August. I won’t argue that it has been dry but the last 48 hours have sorted that ☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️
