Yes, agree about “the oxygen of publicity.” But perhaps the publicity might lead to tougher handling of these louts, whether English or Scottish and might so some way to stamping out this vile behaviour.

I agree Iam. Unfortunately there are ignorant drunks from many countries who call themselves football supporters, as Sago's post clearly shows,

Fans staying in Düsseldorf during the European Championship sang “Lizzie’s in a box” while others in Frankfurt chanted Harry Kane “licks windows on the bus” when they met English fans in the city.

As England fans again sang 10 German Bombers in defiance of police advice, a handful of Scottish fans have now been caught chanting their own offensive songs.

In footage filmed on the streets of Düsseldorf earlier this week, a small number of Scotland fans chanted “Lizzie’s in a box, in a box, Lizzie’s in a box, na na na na na na na,” in a celebration of the death of Elizabeth II who died in September 2022.

They're all disgusting. If they belonged to my family, husband ,son, etc, they would feel the full force of my disaster when they arrived home.
Shame that these yobs bring embarresment to our country, and the many decent Fans that follow football.
So yes a ban would be well deserved.

The “oxygen of publicity” is a double edged sword isn’t it?
I had been (blissfully?) unaware of this up till now and think instead of inviting discussion I would prefer to treat such displays of hooliganism with the attention they deserve.

It’s hideous and shows us at our worst and yes they should be arrested and banned for life but
I think your title is repeating it and I wouldn’t have done that because it makes me cringe just seeing it in writing
