Snow! I know a lot of people have very good reasons for not liking , I won't drive in it , but when I woke up this morning and saw the snow I was quite excited, we live right on the South coast so it is not something we see a lot of.

I love the look of snow, but shudder at the thought of driving in it. In 1947, I wasn't allowed to go out and play in the snow because I had just recovered from pneumonia. From that day onwards it had an irresistible attraction for me.

Youngest dd lives in a studenty part of a city and after they got snow she said half the street was out having a snowball fight. Grown up kids 😁 ☃️

When DH was working they once had a high-level planning meeting in mid snowy winter with a group of people in expensive and new-looking suits, from a middle eastern oil country, who had never seen real snow. When the visitors left, they could watch them from the window as they crossed the car park. One of the deputation scooped snow from the roof of a car and threw it at his colleague and next minute they were enjoying a snowfight. I hope the suits were still wearable after it.

I love the snow, I also drive in it. Everything seems peaceful, and clean. I live in a greater London suburb and we have not had any. [

It is okay if you can stay at home but if you have to work or go out to the hospital etc. it is horrible.

I love the snow, always have and regard it as a personal challenge getting to work, to shop and to make it to the village hall for a play on Thursday night. (and back again,)
Today is horrid: winds, lashing rain and very gloomy.

The only thing I don’t hate about snow was the fun my little grandson had the one time there was enough here to take him sledging. Otherwise, it’s cold, slippery, tough for the ground-feeding birds, lethal when it freezes on top, and a filthy sodden mess when it melts.

I've been cautious since I took my little 2CV to Amersham. We had no snow at home but upon cresting the (fairly steep) hill leading down in to Amersham it was thick with snow. I cautiously began to descend and my poor little "tin snail" lost traction and began sliding down the hill sideways. I had my two young daughters in the car, they thought it was great! Me, not so much!

Glad to say there was no serious damage and we stopped just before the roundabout at the bottom, courtesy of a tractor.

I love it when it has first fallen and is all pristine and white. Not so keen on the ice and slush though. I actually don't mind driving in it either - it's other drivers who are the problem, who don't know how to drive in wintry conditions. I do get a bit scared of falling in icy conditions these days though - a few years ago I fell all the way down our outside stone steps, all 14 of them! I swear my life flashed before my eyes - I honestly thought that was it and my time was up. How I never broke any bones I will never know, although I was very shaken up and black and blue for weeks. Since then it's made me a bit wary,

How’s your driving different in the snow, compared to other peoples?
I was taught to drive in the winter when there was ice on the road- I hate driving in the dead of winter now that I am older

Same. I live in Scotland, so was taught to drive in all conditions. As a former motoring reporter, I also got the opportunity to do skid pan training with the police and used to compete in car rallies with my husband. I can remember driving to and from work in winter when the snow drifts on the sides of the road were higher than my poor wee Mini!
