The concept is (and was) always there. It's ot the concept that's new, just a word to describe the concept. See my previous post. I'm spending twixn=mas at home mostly. Nothing glamorous or comercialised anout it.

There was nothing glamorous or commercialised about xmas in my house either.

It took me a while to twig what Twixmas meant when I first came across it on GN the other day but then I thought it was a good 'reduction' of "the week between Christmas and New Year": one word instead of several.

AIBU to think that minding about the sort of things mentioned – that is: wordplay – in the OP is the essence of grump, shallow, silly?

I love the rainbow bridge thing. I don't see that it's any different from saying people go to heaven. I never use the term 'fur babies' though.

Twixmas is a good way to describe the limbo between Christmas and New Year. I think of betwixt and between. So, I don't mind using the term. I do agree with other words being daft though.

Dartsmas? Dare I ask - before googling

'twixt nothing new about the word. A diminutive of betwixt meaning between.
But I was amused last night to see an advert for Dartsmas.

I love the feeling of not being sure exactly what day it is. It's such a nice relaxing time for me. Boring old routine will be back soon enough.

That one doesn’t bother me too much nor the staycation the ones that really sets my teeth on edge are ‘Fur babies’ and animals going ‘over the rainbow bridge’ they really set my teeth on edge

Nothing to stop anyone keeping the lights up even if the tree comes down..there are lovely cheerful plants to be had and a glossy new calendar to put up😊

But Twixmas is the perfect opportunity for finishing off all those festive leftovers, opened cheeses and biscuits, ends of pork pies, neglected fruits and what have you. And getting “stuck into” new books before it all flares up again for New Year 🔥.then back to Frugal Foods (not!)

I wouldn’t call it a dreary week of nothingness! Lovely relaxation (at least once you’re retired!) and lots of leftovers to eat up, no shopping, but trips out when so many attractions are still so Christmassy, with cheerful lights and decorations.

After 12th Night, when all the lights and decorations are gone, is IMO the dreary time - as if early January isn’t dreary enough anyway.

It reminds me of that chocolate bar. It's just another silly word.

I rather like the term Twixmas. It's simple and descriptive and much easier to say than "that dreary week of nothingness before normality resumes".
