Is this a constant question asked in your house ?

I get it all day everyday from DH
this morning’”Where’s ‘my’ torch”
the most often asked are , where’s my Wallet, 🪪 Car Keys 🔑, Bank Card 💳…!!!!
oh & glasses , that I can live with as i have been known to put them on the mantelpiece & not see them ! It happens but when it’s not just daily but constantly all day , it’s wearing to say the least .
Oh well off to find the torch for his Lordship

My husband is a nightmare for ‘losing’ his reading glasses.
I got fed up with checking the loo ( he’s a loo reader- something I find odd) the garage, the shed etc etc so we bought an additional 3 budget pairs,me optimistically thinking he could leave a pair in each place he needs them.
Does that happen? No.
On one occasion when I helped him look all four pairs were in the garage, neatly placed next to his workbenchsmile
Still love him to bits tho!

I know where it is. It's on a flat surface.

Yes, my DH is guilty of this. Any flat surface will do. Sometimes the window sill in the kitchen, which drives me mad.

I always put my car keys in the same place. Why wouldn't you. My DH has a corner in the kitchen where I dump all the stuff he leaves lying around. He still loses stuff

On the other hand, I have often gone around looking for my glasses only to find them on my head grin

With dd1 it’s her phone. I have suggested more than once, glueing it to her head!

It must be a man thing but what I detest is my husband, since having his teeth out, leaves his dentures around the house. He never seems to keep them in his mouth which affects his speech. I bought him two dental boxes to put his set in but, again, never uses them. It is infuriating.

Oh my! You will have to be really stern about this little peccadillo. He either keeps them in his mouth where they belong or in a dental box or else🤬
Who wants to see a grin on the coffee table.

My DP is equally useless at finding anything. His other question apart from‘Where’s my?’ Is frequently ‘Where do we keep blah blah?’ To which my answer is ‘Where we always keep it’.We haven’t just moved in, we’ve lived in this house for years.
It’s just men😉

I could echo most of these and not just for DH.
MissAdventure, next time he asks you where his knife is, tell him it is still in the back of his latest victim.
My grandmother, when asked where something was would say, "Hanging off my bottom lip."
Love some of the replies on here.

Maggiemaybe Tue 14-Jan-25 18:17:13

The last time this happened to me, I eventually found it slotted into the lid, where I had obviously stashed it so it wouldn’t get damaged/sat on etc. Have you looked in your lid?

Thank you, Crossstichfan, I’ve found it! Down in the cellar, on top of the tumble dryer.

No, I haveythe foggiest idea how it got there!

My mother, who was Irish, used to say something like "Have you looked under the bed?" and when, invariably, it wasn't there she would say "Well, if it's not there it is somewhere else".

Ong reading your response made me remember what my Mum used to say !
Her favourite reply to ‘ Where’s my’
was ‘ Under my arm’ !!! 🤪🤪🤪

Don’t get me started on the ‘ doors & drawers ‘ that are constantly open 😝😝

My husband bought a pretty little dish in an antique shop just for putting the car keys in so that he wouldn't lose them. Are they ever put into the dish? No!
His TV remote control is the thing he always asks if I've seen. Today we hunted for it. It was down the side of the sofa cushion. We each have our own remote, our TV came with 2.

minimoon ,
Do you have to hide your remote ? 😋

And I’ve lost the bottom half of the box belonging to the jigsaw I’ve just finished. It’s not under or behind the sofa and it’s too big to fit in a box…

I’ve asked DH where it is. Apparently he’s no idea either.

Mine usually says “ I’ve lost my…..” and my answer is “no you haven’t you just can’t find it”. Next question from me “when did you last have it?” etc. DH gets in such a panic that I usually end up helping him look for it. He’s been very lucky in that people have found his wallet outside, his phone in the shopping centre and such. I’ve just come to accept as part of life’s rich pattern. It’s just not good for me to get too stressed out.

I’m pretty sure lots of us will become more forgetful as we get older.

Ayse
My DH must be your DH’a twin he does all these things as well as today dropping his keys outside & not even knowing , a passing stranger knocked with them , We have had knocks in our front door with his bank card at not only this address but others we have lives at !
Glasses , Phones , wallets .
i brought him a beautiful leather wallet slim enough for trouser pockets , no he kept mislaying it , so he brought him self the biggest ugliest ( in my opinion ) & still never knows where it is .
My mantra , put things in the same place . 🤪🤪

Yes, totally sympathise. We agree a place and it lasts for a while but after two or three weeks it all drifts away and we are back at the beginning!

If it wasn’t such a nuisance it would be funny. I can just see Micheal McIntyre picking up on it. That would make me laugh.

I think you are going to get a resounding - "Yes"!

I honestly had no idea 🤷

It is infuriating, I suffered it for decades. But I do miss him so much now.
Be careful what you wish for.

I've spent all day complexed about where a pen has gone.

I've a friend who tidies up a bit while she's here, but for bits and bobs like my (new) pen, she'll just open a drawer, or a box, and drop them in there.

Then I never find them again!

oh that must be so annoying 🙁

NanaTuesday Mon 13-Jan-25 20:01:16

It’s very annoying isn’t it! I don’t even acknowledge the “ where have you put my whatever” anymore, just roll my eyes and walk away.

Poppy red ,
I like your style ❤️

As for reading glasses, I have purchased multiple at the same time for DH, so he can leave a pair at his work bench, near his chair, and at his bedside table.

I laughed when I went to visit a friend and she had about a dozen pairs on a dresser in the dining room. She said she collected them all once a week and lined them up again!

I lost my library books last week. I 8remembered8 carrying them out of the library, I hadn't been anywhere else, the dog hadn't chewed them up (on this occassion) so where were they? After searching every room, & even in the attic incase I'd put them in with the christmas decorations, I checked my account & realised I hadn't checked them out shock

GrauntyHelen Mon 13-Jan-25 18:58:36

Just stop enabling the have you seen /where's my!

MissAdventure Mon 13-Jan-25 18:54:15

Perplexed. Vexed. Whatever.

If the idea ‘don’t put it down, put it away’ fails, then a basket for keys, wallets, glasses usually works.

When growing up, I was used to Mum’s standard response to ‘where’s my …’. It was always ‘up in Annie’s room, behind the clock’ 😁. We learned not to ask!
