I prided myself on leaving MiCasa in Spain spotless after every holiday - until we sold last year and found on decluttering that actually I wasn’t that particular 😱.

It was the ‘behind’ bits that I hadn’t tackled…lessons have been learned🤬

7 year old DGD points out all the cobwebs that I’ve missed without my glasses.

I would love to have a cleaner but I know that I would find myself cleaning before they came!

Be kind to yourself!
What's the harm in a bit of dust?
After I had a cataract operation my sight was instantly improved 100 fold.
It was fabulous to see colours and the detail in the flowers but the downside was seeing my own face in the mirror with all its wrinkles.

I suppose the estate agent came to take photographs and I know how you feel NanaTuesday!

We're having a new kitchen; I said to DH I'd better clean the hob and the floor before they come. He looked at me and said "but they're replacing the hob and hacking up the floor!".

I did give the hub a quick clean but not a scrub 😁

I am short sighted and have to wear glasses to clean or it's really not worth the effort!
You are not alone!

When my Mum did the washing up, I had to discreetly re-wash it all because it was still covered in gunk.

Now I am that person and definitely have to put my glasses on to wash up.

I feel for you! Last year I had both cataracts sorted out! Oh dear, my wrinkles and a dirty house were all I could see. Who is that wrinkly old person in the mirror? Spiders webs and grubbiness, oh my.

My DD BFF is a cleaner with a local firm but does it on the side, too as she's building up her own business. She charges £14:10 ph. I asked her to help me before Christmas and she arrived with my DD in tow. Unlike me, my DD loves cleaning, weird child! And they are super amazing I am so proud of them!!
BFF started in helping patients who couldn't go home because of hoarding or/& uncleanliness and hopes to go on to cleaning crime scenes!!
They are both amazing at what they do!

It’s the shower that catches me out as it’s the only place I don’t wear my glasses (it’s all a blur without them - wouldn’t even find the handle on my cup of tea)

Oh dear, oh dear. How can water make things so grubby😱

Never do your housework with your specs on. As the saying goes what you don’t see the heart don’t grieve over
My cleaners are worth their weight in gold as husband tidies a bit when they are due

Been there NanaTuesday and I agree, it is a shock to see how clean or not something is when you put your glasses on. The first time it happened to me I was horrified as I am rather particular about the house.

Now I make sure that I take a look with my glasses on, on a regular basis

I’ve always had a cleaner, because I’m a lazy slob. I used to have them every week, but since retiring and divorcing, I’ve reduced them to once a fortnight . I’m on my own, the little GC are in school now, so they’re here only once a fortnight. More often than not, I go to them. So the house stays pretty clean and tidy.

This morning I had a shock as with an Estate Agent due to visit late afternoon I was up earlier than usual ( during winter anyway) !

With 2 Small pooches King Charles Cavaliers I have to be on top of , sweeping , vacuuming & floor washing .
But here’s the thing , you know when people say things like ‘ should have gone to spec savers ‘?
Well , that was me , I was absolutely disgusted with my self for not donning my specs when I cleaned 🧼
We all have the odd day where we give things a quicker clean than others but my word , I thought it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks 😫
That daily clean without my glasses might as well of not been done .
Fur balls caught on the legs of the dresser , skirting boards needing a scrub ( I insisted we have a double ridge you know in the style of those old high ones - to suit our old house ) rather than a quick wipe .
Even the worktop that I am precious about 😢
Oh for the days of 20/20 vision & whipping round top to bottom with no fur balls , coffee beans or more .
I wouldn’t be without our pooches of course & at only 3.years we are fairly new dog parents .
But I would consider a cleaner , now that’s a thought 💭
How would I negotiate how often & for how long ?
I’m thinking Kitchen & Bathrooms .
Once a week /2 hours
Mid week - beginning of week end of week ????
Perplexed , annoyed at myself full in the gaps .

Oh & the bottom line the EA did a phone call only which apparently was going to be a video one but as our house had been on the market 2 years ago he said it wasn’t needed .
Though I am feeling better about having worn my glasses 🤓 & realising that they are really a necessity when cleaning!
Yes , I roped DH in when he returned from the Gym .
