It also shows what they wear and how they behave, and how they speak.

Ditto. Ridiculous! How have swimmers/ surfers changed for decades, most beaches don’t have bathing huts! I once went to the Swimming baths when I was about 12 with a towel and wearing my swimming costume … but forgot to bring any underwear! So after swimming a very wet costume was stripped off and I had to walk to the bus and home starkers under a longish skirt… thank goodness this was pre mini skirt days! Circa 1956?

Why is it that so many people buy a new place (presumably because they like it) and within weeks of moving in, they're trying to set up their own little dictatorship? We had lovely neighbours when we moved in, but one house was sold to people who wanted to be Local Movers & Shakers (in spite of moving here from halfway across the country). The friendly atmosphere deteriorated very quickly and, a decade later, every other house in the street has been sold except ours. And we're about to put it on the market!

It wouldn’t offend me but it would really annoy that a new neighbour arrives and wants to change things.
It like somebody moving in next to a church, complains about the bells ringing and the church has to stop.
It only needs one complaint for a council to make changes just because one person makes a complaint. Completely wrong.

I think the best version is they aren't out to offend they do need to change, life is too short to make a fuss of this I think your neighbours should rise above it and be understanding. They aren't exposing as the law would clamp down on. Honestly. Some people

It wouldn’t bother me and I wouldn’t expect the children to be bothered. They have been taught the gender differences and that bare flesh is nothing to be concerned about.
After all, we are all naked under our clothes.

We had people here buy new build houses behind a supermarket then complained about delivery lorries at night. So they stopped night delivery
Next day no fresh milk bread fruit veg etc until late afternoon. Night delivery was back within a month

We were sat outside our tents one year in Glastonbury enjoying the music and from out of nowhere came two men just strolling up the path with not a stitch on just hats and sandals. This was before it started having problems with it being muddy all the time.
Everyone was just amused and most people giggled and didn’t bat an eyelid…well it was Glastonbury after all.
I wouldn’t sign the petition either. Your neighbours sound a bit snowflaky I wonder what’s going on with them.

I’m sorry but the ones here saying they would be offended obviously don’t watch TV, you see a lot more there than you would watching a couple of surfers undressing. Just my opinion.

It wouldn't offend me.The sea is for everyone, if there is nowhere but the shire for thes people to change, so be it. As long as they are not prancing ablout wobbling their bits on purpose, what is the problem. I will swap with her if she likes, she does not know how very lucky she is to live near the sea, I wonder which she would rather have, marauding youths hanging about on street corners opposite her house, rude and abusive drinkers say? Some people don't know when they are well off do they ?

I must start by saying how lucky are you to live near the coast. Have these people never been to a swimming pool and been in the changing room/showers. Honestly some people just like to moan.

It certainly wouldn't/ doesn't bother me either. Where we are there are lots of surfing resorts/beaches and when "surfs up" they are changing everywhere including out of their vans , in the road, on the beach etc. There is no exhibitionism involved here and no-one trying to be offensive in any way. All they are thinking about is getting that Board and themselves into the water.
What does bother me , because I worry about one of them badly cutting their feet, is their tendency to run barefoot in the roads / over scrubland/dunes etc. to get to the water.
But I wouldn't try to get in their way !

It wouldn't bother me. In the scheme of things it is a petty thing to worry about. There are some folk though who will complain when they get to heaven.

Perhaps they have children and don't wish them to witness the unlovely, and regular, sight of people undressing? For all you know there may have been an 'incident'?

when the people were viewing their home they would have been blind not to have seen surfers , so this should not have been a surprise. We stopped looking at houses when it became obvious that there were lots of cars blocking the access. If this issue is not bothering you then why not write to the council to say it has been going on for several years and you don't support a ban .
Part of life is that we all have differing views and your view is as valid as the writers of the petition

We live on the coast and our road is often full of surfers stripping off to get into their wet suits, most of them try to be as discreet as they can and it is not a problem . I have lived here 50 years and is has never bothered me or my neighbours but a new family have moved in down the road and have put a complaint into the council and the police and have started a petition to stop the surfers changing, I refused to sign and think they are being petty , would this bother you ?

Since my first post I have spoken to the new neighbours, they were on the beach so I decided to be sociable as I don't like the feeling of being unfriendly, we just talked about the weather and general chit chat and then the husband asked me if I thought they were being unreasonable so I said yes and half expected an angry response but I think they regret their actions and he said they have given it some thought and realise it is part of a seaside village , no one signed their petition and the council were not interested .

We always have a BBQ or some sort of get together on the beach around Easter time , I have said they are very welcome to come along , I think the husband was very keen not so sure about his wife , I feel a lot happier , I made the effort now it up to them.

As long as they are not stripping off and running around stark naked it wouldn't bother me. As you say they are trying to be discreet. Same mentality as someone who moves to a country village then complains about the church bells, farm animal noises and the accompanying smells. Don't like it, don't live there

I mean a coastal town equals coastal activities, they need to get real .
