Putting water into public ownership would be prohibitively expensive. The cost of acquiring shares in all the water companies, and taking on their debt, would be phenomenal.

so they have been pouring sewage int he seas and all waterways, then have the gall to raise prices like this,

I know many will not hear it- but part of the sewage dumping, and the price rises, is due to the massive cost of importing essential chemicals from abroad, with low value Sterling, mainly from EU.

Let Thames water go bankrupt, don't keep lending good money after bad. Admit privatisation was a mistake.

It really pays if the number of residents in a property is fewer than the number of bedrooms.
I’m paying under half of what my neighbour pays, but she refuses to have a meter, despite living alone.
My payment has gone up from £22 to -£23 a month. I don’t wash my car at home and use water butts for the garden.

Just back from an hours dog walk and there are still 2 burst pipes with water constantly running down the gully 3 weeks after the ice and snow obviously caused them.And it took 7 phone calls and refusing to be fobbed off to fix the one at the top of our road that was causing flooding in front of our house.We couldn't use our front door for 2 weeks. We were told oh dont worry it gets recycled but what a waste of money to retreat itAnd actually due to the counil failing to maintain the gully outside our house it all ended up on our property and next doors.So I'm not impressed with any rise in charges tbh !We have a meter already and try not to overuse as it is.

We need to take water back into public ownership. Sick of my money going to shareholders...

Any idea how much that would cost keepingquiet? Believe me, your bills and your taxes would be much, much higher.

Giving people more and more money to run a wasteful and inefficient system whilst piling up the cash for themselves?

No, it’s not a price worth paying. It would be phenomenal, and the taxpayer would also take on all the water companies’ debt. Making improvements would be a further huge expense. Sorting out the NHS is more important to most of us I think.

We had a water meter installed last year. Our monthly bill went from £88 to £33. Everyone should have one.

Ours has gone up from £28 a month to £40, Southern Water, yes we have a meter.

Imagine what it would be if you didn’t have a meter …

estimated for single person wessex water is £450 pa, the actual for me with meter is £270 pa. Wessex water will be going up 17% for meter users, more than that for those not on a meter

I use water butts and store 660 litres at home, 600 litres on my allotment

The discrepancy wrt rises is because some of us were on a much higher rate

Get a water meter.........yes I'd love to. Been trying for 2 and a half years, and still it hasn't happened. My water rates are far in excess of what they'd be if I was metered and my increase will be even more with the price rises. Not so "simples" for all of us!!

I have, yet again today. There have been changes of contractors for installations during this time, such that my original works numbers were meaningless. There have been several surveys and each time it's agreed the course of action needed, and each time nothing gets done.

We couldn't have a meter fitted so the water company said they would charge us the average amount that two people on a meter would pay.
That is over £45pm over 10 months this year. Presumably it will be going up this April.

We used to have a house at the beach with water tanks. Didn’t have to depend on town water. Tell you what, it was cheap. Cost us nothing. Our water bills here are horrendous because it is a dry country though most of the money is actually paying for the connections rather than the water itself.

It's interesting that water rights are bought and sold as a separate commodity when farms are sold over there.
